National Conference

Neshaminy 3, Abington 2
Kenny Herrmann has stepped up in a big way for Neshaminy thus far in the young season.  Against the visiting Abington Ghosts, the senior scored his third goal in as many games, this time the game-winner in what was a one-goal win for the Redskins in a conference rivalry battle.
Herrmann scored off a beautiful pass from Eric Schaffer in the 26th minute to give Neshaminy (3-0-0, 2-0-0) its third goal of the game and the eventual game-winner on what was an extremely hot and humid afternoon.
"We had to trot out a lot of guys and play a lot of subs because of the heat," Neshaminy coach Tom Foley said.  "But we played really well.  The score doesn't really indicate how well we played.  They cashed in on a couple of mistakes that were unfortunate for us, but overall, I thought we played pretty well.  It was a tough game with a lot of penalties.
"Abington is always a team that gives us a tough test.  It's always nice beating them.  They won't go away.  They're always giving us a hard time."
In the game's ninth minute, Kevin Goetz scored on a pass from Jamen Rowan to put Neshaminy on top 1-0 and then Zach Albarran scored off a beautiful feed from Dylan McDonald in the 12th minute to put the Redskins up 2-0.
David Pohle scored in the 18th minute to cut Abington's deficit to one goal, but Herrmann would put Neshaminy back up by two in the 26th minute, thanks to a pass from Schaffer.  Abington's Matt Bevilaqua scored in the 75th minute, but the Ghosts (2-1-0, 1-1-0) were unable to get the equalizer, and lost their first game of the year.
"Jamen Rowan and Dylan McDonald did a nice job defending today," Foley said.  "Everyone who stepped on the field today did a nice job on this brutally hot day.  Kenny scored a fantastic goal, and he was there to finish it when he got a pass from Eric Schaffer.
“Kenny has three goals in three games and it's a nice start for him.  We were not sure who was going to replace some goals from last year, and he has stepped up so far, so that's a real good sign."
Chris Rush stopped three shots in net to earn the win for the Redskins, who sit atop the National Conference standings.
Abington               1               1—2
Neshaminy           2               1--3

Pennsbury 3, Council Rock North 2
Pennsbury hosted Council Rock South in an early-season conference matchup, and it was the Falcons coming out on top. The win improved Pennsbury's record to 1-1-1 overall and 1-1-0 in conference play. The Indians fell to 0-3-0 overall on and 0-2-0 in the conference on this young season.

William Tennent 6, Truman 1
Despite a slow start and a 1-1 tie going into halftime, William Tennent broke things wide open in the second half, scoring five unanswered goals en route to a lopsided win over Harry S. Truman at William Tennent High School.
J.R. McCabe scored for Tennent in the game's second minute to put the Panthers on top 1-0, but the Tigers tied things up before the half when Patrick Smith scored off a punt from goalkeeper Fernando Mendez who had punted the ball into the offensive zone.
In the second half, Nick Clark, Dan Mehaffey, McCabe, Tony Ciarlante and Henry Sanson all tallied goals to help the Panthers (3-0-0, 2-0-0) run away with the victory.

Continental Conference

Central Bucks South 3, Hatboro-Horsham 2 (OT)
It took only three minutes of the first overtime period for Central Bucks South find the back of the net, as Tim Radwanski took a pass from Danny Remmick in the game's 83rd minute to give Central Bucks South an overtime win over host Hatboro-Horsham in a conference affair.
The win improved the Titans' record to 2-1-0 overall and 1-1-0 in conference play.
"We really did a great job in overtime of putting pressure on them," CB South coach Don Brady said.  "We were able to adjust to their direct play and we just had a good all-out team effort today."
In the first half, Dante D'Alonzo scored in the fourth minute to put Hatboro-Horsham (0-3-0, 0-2-0) on top 1-0, but CB South tied things up in the 29th minute on a goal from Matt Tarasawiecz.
In the second half, the Hatters again went on top when Justin Paluszek found the back of the net.  But again, the Titans tied tings up when Remmick scored in the 49th minute.
CB South goalkeeper Billy Gorman stopped 13 shots in net while earning the win.
"Billy made a couple big saves early in the match, and he was a backup goalie before tonight," Brady said.  "We had to move him up because our normal goalkeeper was hurt.  He had no varsity experience.  He did everything he needed to do coming off the line to help our defense.  He controlled the back and he did a real nice job of distribution in the game."
Kurt Dick stopped 12 shots in net for the Haters in the losing effort.
Brady said he was impressed with his team's play coming off a 2-0 loss to North Penn earlier in the week.
"We didn't play very well in our last game, so it was important for us to play better today and get some rhythm," he said.  "We came back twice down a goal, which was nice, and, of course, we got an early OT goal."
CB South                1               1               1—3
Hatboro-Horsham            1               1               0—2

CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 1, NORTH PENN 0
In a battle of last season’s top two Continental Conference teams, the Patriots received a goal from Julian Klokner in the eighth minute (Evan Vare assist) and then withstood the Knights’ second half comeback attempts.
“He (Klokner) was crossing the ball, and the ball found a way to fall into the far side,” coach Mike Gorni said. “It was a ball he wasn’t shooting, but it was a well-taken cross, and he beat the keeper on the far side. It hit the back upright and went off the back post.”
The second half was a battle of wills.
“In the second half, they outplayed us,” Gorni said. “I think playing back-to-back games and ending at 9:30 (Thursday night) – they had quicker legs, they were better to the ball, but we were resilient. We defended real well. They had a couple of opportunities and more possession. We had a couple of opportunities. Neither team was able to register anything. We’re delighted to walk out with a one-goal win. It wasn’t the prettiest of game, but it was one of those games in the conference that was hard fought.”
Gorni credited the play of his defense.
“We’re starting a freshman center back (Will Eisold), which is almost unheard of in our league,” the Patriots’ coach said. “J.R. Eisold and Brian Gilligan played really well in the midfield.
“We got a really a good game in the back from Ian Lutz, Will (Eisold), Stephen Sheehan and Booker Farrior, whose leader in the back.
“We got another real good game from our goalkeeper, Austin Prime. He had to come up with a couple of really key saves and a couple of good reads in the box to cut off crosses. He was equal to the task on everything.”
With the win, the Patriots improved to 4-0 (2-0 SOL) while the Knights are 1-2 (1-1 SOL).

Souderton coach Matt Benner said that he was impressed with his team's defense for the second game in a row.
"I thought our defense played really well in not allowing any real quality shots on goal, even though we moved different guys in and out," he said.  "We were real good together again and I was very impressed with the defense.  Ryan Kramer, Chad Ziegler, Jesse Mangum and Jack O'Leary were all back there having good games.  They have been a real bright spot for us this year on defense."
