SOL Boys' Volleyball District Wrap (5-17-18)

CR North, CB East, Pennsbury & Pennridge were winners and advanced to Tuesday’s quarterfinals of the District One 3A Tournament.

#1-1 COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3, #1-8 CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 2 (21-25, 24-26, 25-15, 25-15, 15-13)
In a battle of the tournament’s first and eighth seeds, the Bucks gave the top-seeded Indians all they could handle, opening up a 2-0 lead before the Indians rallied to win three straight in a tense five-set match.
Rock North setter Nick Baniewicz had 39 assists, three kills, one dig and one ace. Harry Wyatt (21 kills, five digs, two aces) and Jack Gunshenan (18 kills, four blocks, one assist) both had big nights at the net. Eddie Mancinelli’s 19 digs led the defense. He also had two assists. Justin Burns had seven assists, five kills, three digs, two blocks and two aces. Sean D’Arcy had six kills, and Will Hewitt had two blocks. Keven D’Arcy added two kills, one assist and one block. Vytis Duncia chipped in one kill and one block.
For the Bucks, Cole Nagle (14 kills, seven digs), Austin Cervasio (nine kills, three blocks) and Liam Baxter (nine kills, three blocks) led the way at the net. Jason Miller had 14 digs, and setter Adam Klapper had 47 assists and 17 digs.
Council Rock North will face Pennridge in a semifinal match on Tuesday.

#1-2 CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, #1-10 NESHAMINY 0 (25-19, 25-14, 25-14)
The Patriots advanced to Tuesdays semifinals with a sweep of the Redskins.
Setter Steve Storm directed the Patriot attack, spreading the ball evenly and picking up 28 assists, four kills, one block and three digs. The attack was spearheaded by Dylan Colbert, who racked up 10 kills, one ace and four digs. Carter Haban, Christian Wolf and Andrew Bennett all added four kills while Haban also had three aces and five digs and Bennett tallied five digs and an ace. Peter Chiaravallo and Jack Miller played key roles offensively, collecting two kills each while Chairavallo and Ryan Figus each had two digs. Jacob LaBouliere was steady in the back row, picking up four digs.
For the Redskins, setter JD Palmieri had 14 assists. Tony Camillo (four kills, four blocks), Jesse Marshall (three kills, two blocks), Matt Schwab (four kills, six digs) and Colin Smith (three kills, three aces, four digs) all contributed at the net. Alex Swiderski led the defense with nine digs, and Colin Smith had three kills, three aces and four digs. Paul Allen had one kill, Bert Shen, one ace, and Jesse Kovaschetz, five digs.
Central Bucks East will host Pennsbury in a semifinal match on Tuesday

#1-4 PENNRIDGE 3, #1-5 COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH (25-21, 25-17, 25-21)
The Rams notched a sweep of the visiting Golden Hawks to earn a spot in Tuesday’s district quarterfinals.
Cross Edwards led the Rams at the net with 13 kills and six digs while Ryan Benscoter (seven kills, four blocks), Zach Detweiler (seven kills, three aces), Chris McKinney (five kills, four aces) and Kevin Jones (four kills) also contributed. Setter Corey Quaste had 29 assists and seven digs. Contributing to the defense were Danny Rutter (nine digs), Jeremy Pruss (five digs) and Ethan Lionetti (four digs).
For the Golden Hawks, Andrew Richards (seven kills, one ace, nine digs), Dane Paulson (five kills, two blocks, eight digs) and Shane Slivinski (five kills, one ace, one block, seven digs) led a balanced effort. TJ Rodman had seven digs and one ace. Dylan Baptiste had three kills and five blocks. Jay Ferrara added one kill, one ace, one block and three digs. Joey Barrett (one ace, two digs) and Mitchell Gribmam (two digs) also contributed.
Pennridge will travel to Council Rock North for a semifinal match on Tuesday.

Wednesday, May 16
PENNSBURY 3, SOUDERTON 0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-17)
The Falcons earned the straight set win on Wednesday.
Justin Sadley had a team-high 13 kills with a .360 hitting percentage. He also had two aces and four blocks. Danny Quay added six kills (.455), and Kyle Faulcon contributed seven kills (.308) and one dig. Brett Garretson added eight kills, one ace, five digs and one block. Setter Andy Delworth had 33 assists, one kill and one dig. Charlie Bluestein had six digs, two assists and one ace. Matt Caissie had one kill and three aces.
