SOL Boys' Volleyball PIAA Wrap (6-2-18)

#3-1 HEMPFIELD 3, #1-2 CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 1 (26-24, 25-20, 25-27, 25-10)
The Patriots battled valiantly but fell to the top-ranked team in the state in Saturday’s state quarterfinal match.

“I’m incredibly proud of our team,” coach Rob Minschwaner said. “They never quit on each other and battled hard in every match. It was a terrific season.”

Senior Carter Haban closed out his high school career with a stellar match, finishing with 23 kills, eight digs and one ace. Junior Dylan Colbert also had a huge match with 11 kills, 11 digs and an ace. In addition, senior Andrew Bennett added six kills and seven digs, and Christian Wolf contributed six kills, two blocks, a dig and an assist. Jack Miller added two key blocks and a kill.

Directing the East attack was setter Steve Storm, who dished 33 assists while adding three kills, two digs, a block and an ace. Once again, sophomore libero Jacob LaBouliere spearheaded East’s defense, collecting 12 digs and adding two assists.
