SOL Boys' Volleyball Wrap (3-21-23)

SOL National Conference

PENNSBURY 3, NESHAMINY 2 (24-26, 25-23, 25-17, 19-25, 15-13)
The Falcons rallied from a 2-1 deficit after three sets to win the next two, earning the hard-fought win.
Nathan Knapp led the Falcons at the net with 15 kills to go along with one assist, seven digs and five blocks. Josh Flax added 11 kills (.269 hitting percentage), and Brian Drewes added eight kills, two aces and seven digs. Jayce Secoda contributed six kills (.857 hitting percentage), one assist and seven blocks in a stellar outing at the net. Ben Bedard led the defense with 14 digs and five assists. Jake Bucksar (23 assists, 1 kill, 5 digs) and Kieran Shaw (14 assists, 1 kill, 1 block) shared setting duties. Also contributing were Anthony Klyuchnyk (2 kills, 1 assist, 2 blocks), Billy Cavanaugh (1 kill, 1 block) and Lukas Ricciardi (3 aces).
For the Redskins, John Nice had a huge night at the net, finishing with 19 kills, one ace and one dig. Beknazar Baiyshbekov also had double-digit kills with 10 to go along with two aces, four digs and two blocks. Setter El-Mansur Sagalive handed out 33 assists and also had one ace, two digs and two blocks. Brandon Sloskey added eight assists, five kills, two digs and one ace while Jackson Young had six kills and two blocks. Aiden Hastings added four kills, one ace, four digs and two blocks, and Toby Kovaschetz had four digs and three assists.
Pennsbury (1-0 SOL) will host Abington on Thursday, and Neshaminy (0-1) will travel to Cheltenham on Thursday.

SOL American Conference

PENNRIDGE 3, UPPER DUBLIN 2 (25-23, 25-27, 25-23, 25-27, 15-13)
Pennridge and Upper Dublin shared the SOL American Conference title last year.
If Tuesday’s season opener is any indication, not a whole lot separates the two teams this time around as the Rams eked out the win in a grueling five-set match. All five sets were decided by just two points.
Pennridge setter Evan Jalosinski had a busy night, handing out 38 assists to go with two aces. Jude Rotondo had a big night at the net, finishing with 18 kills. Bryce Ammon also was in double figures with 11 kills, four aces and four blocks. Aaron Ladd contributed seven kills and four blocks, and Thomas McKinney had five kills, 12 digs and three blocks. Gavin Stayer had three kills and three blocks while Ty Porter’s 14 digs led the Rams’ defense.
For the Cardinals, Gabriel Copley (8 kills, 3 blocks), Landon Kullmann (8 kills, 6 digs, 1 block) and Seamus Frayne (8 kills, 1 dig) led the way at the net. Terrell Turner added six kills, one ace and one block, and Cory Pendleton had five kills, one ace and five digs. Setter Cole Brown handed out 27 assists and also had one kill, three aces, eight digs and one block. Dominick Plaku led the defense with 14 digs and also contributed three aces and two assists. Ari Weiner had seven digs and four aces.
“It was a back-and-forth match against a strong and very well-rounded Pennridge team,” UD coach Paul Choi said.
Pennridge (1-0 SOL) will travel to North Penn Thursday, and Upper Dublin (0-1) will host Central Bucks South on Thursday.

SOUDERTON 3, QUAKERTOWN 0
The Indians earned a sweep of the visiting Panthers in Tuesday’s league opener.
Ian Nice’s 11 kills led the attack. Derek Gilmore added nine kills and three blocks, and Ethan Frattarelli had seven kills. Setter Levi Leatherman had 21 assists and four blocks.
for the Panthers, setter Rhenan Ferreira had 19 assists, one block and three digs. Owen Williams (6 kills, 12 digs) and Tyler Moyer (6 kills, 1 ace) led a balanced Panther attack. Also contributing were Owen Reinford (3 kills, 1 ace, 4 digs), Owen Latt (3 kills, 2 blocks, 1 ace, 8 digs), Aiden Ziegler (3 kills, 1 block, 2 digs) and Anthony Clark (6 digs).
Souderton (1-0) will host Central Bucks East on Thursday, and Quakertown (0-1) will host Central Bucks West on Thursday.

CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, NORTH PENN 0
Matt LaBouliere turned in a stellar all-around effort for the Patriots, finishing with 13 kills (.611 hitting percentage), 14 digs, three blocks and one ace. AJ Helveston added eight kills, four digs and one block. 
Setter Ryan Coxey had 27 assists, two digs and one block. Aiden Leichter led the defense with 11 digs to go along with one ace.
Also contributing for the Patriots were Justin Berger (4 kills, 4 blocks, 1 ace, 1 dig), Reid Miller (3 kills, 2 aces, 2 digs, 1 block), Ethan Scott (3 kills, 5 digs, 4 blocks), Pat Haurin (3 kills, 3 digs, 1 ace) and Steve Dirugeris (2 digs).
Central Bucks East (1-0 SOL) will host Southern Lehigh in a non-league game Wednesday, and North Penn (0-1) will host Pennridge on Thursday.

CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 3, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 0
The Titans earned a sweep of their neighboring rival in Tuesday’s league opener.
Oliver Hu’s 11 kills led the Titans while teammate Caleb Woodring led the defense with seven digs.
Central Bucks South (1-0) will travel to Upper Dublin on Thursday, and Central Bucks West (0-1) will be on the road at Quakertown on Thursday.
