SOL Boys' Volleyball Wrap (3-24-17)

Check out the results for SOL boys’ volleyball teams in action Friday.

NESHAMINY 3, UPPER DUBLIN 2 (28-26, 25-23, 13-25, 23-25, 15-10)
The Redskins eked out a win in a marathon match in Friday’s season opener. They appeared to be in a good position after winning the first two sets, but the Flying Cardinals came roaring back to win the next two, setting up the winner-take-all fifth set.
“It was a hard fought win,” coach Pat Klingerman said. “We jumped out of the gate on fire, taking the first two sets. Then we started to make some mistakes and you cannot do that against a well-coached team like Upper Dublin.
“They had a lot of heart and fought back from a 0-2 hole. We managed to rally as a team under our senior leadership and rise up to the occasion and win a very contested match. Our guys played extremely well together, and I am happy to see them fight as a team. It is a great way to start off our season with a big win against a tough opponent like Upper Dublin.”
Shaun Kelly led the Redskins’ attack with 17 kills while Tommy Edwards also had a big night at the net with 14. Anthony Verrecchio added 11 kills. Setter Miguel Montalvo had 46 assists. Steve Reich led the defense with 21 digs.
