SOL Boys' Volleyball Wrap (3-26/27-18)

BENSALEM 3, ST. JOE’S PREP 1 (25-23, 25-22, 13-25, 25-23)
The Owls improved to 2-1 on the young season with Tuesday’s win over the Prep. Ethan Fan (seven kills, three blocks) and Shiv Patel (six kills, two assists, one block) led the attack and, according to coach Tim Linehan, made huge plays at the net to close out the victory. Basheer Ghafary had 14 assists and two kills to pace the offense.

LA SALLE 3, NESHAMINY 0 (25-13, 25-22, 25-18)
Ben McGonagle (eight kills, two aces, six digs) and Tony Camillo (eight kills, five blocks) had big games at the net in Tuesday’s loss. Jesse Marshall added two kills and two blocks. Setter Steve Wenderlich had 20 assists and one ace. Mike Muzyk had five kills and five digs, and Alex Swiderski had 12 digs to lead the defense.
“La Salle is a very well-coached team with a lot of talent,” coach Pat Klingerman said. “We just didn’t match their intensity today. We have to regroup at practice and put this game behind us and focus on our next opponent.”

CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 3, ARCHBISHOP WOOD 1 (25-22, 25-18, 22-25, 25-23)

Monday, March 26
COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3, BENSALEM 0 (25-9, 25-9, 25-15)
The Indians earned a sweep in their season and SOL opener on Monday.
Setter Justin Burns spread the ball around in the win, finishing with 20 assists, three blocks, two digs, two aces and one kill. Leading the attack were Jack Gunshenan (seven kills, 1.5 blocks, one ace), Justin Walton (six kills, two blocks, three digs, one assist), Harry Wyatt (six kills, four digs, one assist) and Sean D’Arcy (six kills, one ace). Eddie Mancinelli had five digs and two assists, and Keven D’Arcy had 3.5 blocks and one kill. Also contributing were Chase McCaulley (four assists, one dig, one ace), Vytis Duncia (one kill, one ace), Will Hewitt (one block) and Seth Connors (one kill).
For the Owls, Greg Philip led the way with five kills, one ace and one block. Jay Tilvawala (two kills), Ethan Fan (two kills, one block) and Basheer Ghafary (nine assists, one ace) also played well, according to coach Tim Linehan.

PENNRIDGE 3, NORTH PENN 0 (25-21, 25-17, 27-25)
The Rams earned a sweep, winning three tightly contested games.
Cross Edwards led a balanced Ram attack with eight kills and two aces, and Zach Detweiler had five kills. Danny Rutter had two kills, nine digs and four aces. Kevin Jones (three kills, three blocks) and Ethan Lionetti (two kills) also contributed at the net. Setter Corey Quaste had 18 assists, five blocks and two aces. Jeremy Pruss led the defense with 14 digs. 
For the Knights, Michael Wang had six kills and two aces. Setter Drew Coles had 15 assists and two aces, and Alex Stoler had six kills and one block.

QUAKERTOWN 3, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 1 (25-20, 25-23, 23-25, 25-10)
The Panthers took a 2-0 lead before the Titans came back to win a set. Quakertown closed out the match with a convincing win the fourth set.
Logan Spieker had a huge night for the Panthers, slamming home 18 kills and adding 11 digs. Josh Moyer and Justin Flor both had seven kills. Moyer also had 12 digs while Flor had six digs and 12 assists. Setter Ty Fosbenner had 21 assists and seven digs.
Senior Jake Monson led the Titans with 16 assists and added seven kills and four digs. Sophomore Andrew Rubas had 13 assists, six kills and one dig.
“Our two setters spread the ball around pretty well,” South coach Matt Ehlers said.
Senior middle hitter led the offense with eight kills and added four blocks. Junior Mason Zeo performed well in all aspects and had our lone ace added six kills and led the defense with 17 digs.
“Junior Jonathan Zonshein contributed eight digs including five digs in set number three that helped us to win that set,” Ehlers said.

CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, UPPER DUBLIN 0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-19)
The Patriots earned a sweep over the Flying Cardinals. Leading the way for the Patriots were Carter Haban (eight kills, two aces, five assists and a 2.8 passer rating), Dylan Colbert (seven kills, two aces, one assist) and Andrew Bennett (six kills, one ace). Setter Steve Storm dished out 23 assists and had three aces while middles Jack Miller (four kills) and Thomas Gallagher-Treske (two kills) were big at the net. Jacob LaBouliere led a strong defensive effort, passing a 2.2 and adding two aces.
