SOL Boys' Volleyball Wrap (3-27-17)

COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 1 (25-21, 25-23, 18-25, 25-23)
In a tightly contested non-league match, the visiting Indians won the first two sets, and after falling in the third, they came back to edge the Patriots in the fourth set.
Harry Wyatt (13 kills, five digs, two aces), Jack Gunshenan (10 kills, one ace) and Sean Helmlinger (seven kills, two digs, two blocks and three aces).
Setter Nick Baniewicz handed out 31 assists and also had two digs, two kills and one ace. Brady Haggerty led the defense with nine digs. Also making contributions were Brady Haggerty (three kills), Kevin D’Arcy (two kills), Ed Mancinelli (four digs), Will Hewitt (one kill, one block) and Justin Walton (one kills).
For the Patriots, Dylan Colbert had a big game at the net with 16 kills and also shared the team lead with six digs. Carter Haban added nine, and Christian Wolf had seven kills. Setter Mason Miller had 34 assists and three digs. Liam Creedon also had six digs. Haban and Andrew Bennett had four each. Wolf had a team high three aces.
Council Rock North (1-0) will be on the road on Wednesday at Pennsbury in a battle of last year’s SOL National co-champions, while Central Bucks East will host Upper Dublin.

NORTH PENN 3, LANSDALE CATHOLIC 0 (25-20, 25-16, 25-21)
The Knights opened their season with a sweep of their neighboring rival.
Bobby Dean led the Knights at the net with 13 kills to go along with seven digs and one ace. Setter Ryan Ko had 25 assists, one block and one dig. Kishan Davara added three blocks and four kills while Manan Patel led the defense with 15 digs, three aces and two assists.

CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 3, BENSALEM 0 (25-16, 25-20, 25-15)
The Titans earned a sweep of the Owls in a non-league match.
“This was a complete team effort, and I was proud of the way we remained aggressive on offense and stayed focused on finishing the match in three sets,” coach Matt Ehlers said. “Everyone contributed and played their role in this victory.”
Leading the Titans were setter Mark Macios (27 assists, 10 blocks) and middle hitter/outside hitter Justin Koren (eight aces, 10 kills, six bocks, eight digs), middle hitter Joe Karn (10 kills, three blocks). David Lulko led the Titans defensively with 10 digs.
For the Owls, Joey Conley led the attack with seven kills while Shekib Ghafary added six kills. Setter Ronak Shah also had a strong game with 16 assists, two kills and two blocks.

ABINGTON 3, GLEN MILLS 0
The Ghosts rolled to a sweep of the Battling Bulls. Cole Santora led the attack with eight kills to go along with three digs. TJ Dougherty led the defense with 10 digs. Setter Daniel Rodriguez had 24 assists and five digs. Casey Stevenson added six digs.

COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 3, ARCHBISHOP WOOD 2 (26-28, 25-19, 25-18, 22-25, 15-9)
The Golden Hawks earned a hard fought five-set non-league win, rebounding from a tough loss in the opening set to win the next two.
Shane Slavinski had a big night, leading the attack with 20 kills and sharing the team-lead with 12 digs. Setter Dane Paulson had 26 assists, 11 digs and five service aces. Andrew Richards also had a big night with eight kills and 12 digs.
