SOL Boys' Volleyball Wrap (4-13-16)

CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 2 (18-25, 25-19, 18-25, 27-25, 19-17)
It was another classic battle between the neighboring rivals. The Bucks had a 2-1 lead after three sets, but the Patriots gutted out tough wins in the fourth and fifth sets to escape with the hard earned win.
Mason Miller directed a well-balanced East attack, garnering 52 assists, eight digs and two kills. His offensive standouts were Chris Woolslayer who tallied 12 kills, three aces and 13 digs, Pierce Budson with 14 kills and four blocks, Carter Haban with 12 kills and six digs, Eric Chmiel with 10 kills and two blocks, and Jarred Minschwaner who picked up nine digs, two blocks, two aces and eight kills. Kyle Schmauck anchored the stubborn Patriot defense with 10 digs, and Andrew Bennett chipped in with a kill, one ace, one assist and two digs.
For the Bucks – who were coming off an emotional win over Pennridge, Daniel Klapper led the way with 23 kills and 15 digs. Ryan Alu added 14 kills and 29 digs. Setter Matt Douple matched his counterpart’s number with 52 assists to go along with nine digs and two aces. Will Varner had eight kills and 16 digs, and libero Sam Winderman had 24 digs.

UPPER DUBLIN 3, QUAKERTOWN 2 (25-18, 25-16, 18-25, 22-25, 15-13)
The Flying Cardinals staved off a Panther comeback to win the five-set thriller. Calvin Chan led the Cardinals with 21 kills, 12 digs and two aces. Evan Madden also had a big night, finishing with 17 kills, five digs and two aces. Setter Jose Palomeque handed out 33 assists to go along with 14 digs, three aces and one kill. Leading the defense was Joe Choi with 26 digs as well as four assists and two aces. Andy Katz added two aces, seven kills, one assist and nine digs.
For the Panthers, Mike Dierolf (19 kills, 13 digs) and Logan Spieker (15 kills, 10 digs) had big nights. Setter Drew Stout had 42 assists. Zac Mahler led the defense with 13 digs while Kevin Finlayson had six. Zach Dierolf added five kills.

PENNRIDGE 3, NORTH PENN 0 (25-7, 25-13, 25-13)
The Rams rebounded from their loss to Central Bucks West to earn a sweep of the Knights. Setter Jesse Smith had 18 assists and two aces and Corey Quaste had eight assists and two kills. Cross Edwards led the Rams at the net with 12 kills and also added eight digs. Kevin Jones had eight kills while Ben Chinnici (four kills, four aces), Ryan Spangler (three kills), Aaron Nelson (three kills) and Sam Cullen (two blocks) also contributed at the net. Austin Rush had six digs while Jeremy Baum had four. Caleb Pennell had a pair of aces.
For the Knights, setter Ryan Ko had eight assists. Luke Hill had four kills, and Manan Patel led the defense with seven digs.  

CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 3, CHELTENHAM 0 (25-18, 25-13, 25-20)
The Titans earned their first win of the season with their sweep of the visiting Panthers.
“We were able to limit our mistakes and got contributions from several athletes,” coach Matt Ehlers said.
Team leaders included setter Mark Macios (two aces, one kill, two blocks, two digs, 29 assists) middle Jack Mayhew (four aces, nine kills, two blocks, six digs) and outside hitter Justin Koren (one ace, 12 kills, 2.5 blocks, seven digs, one assist). Also contributing were libero David Lulko (11 digs), Evan Quinn (two aces, four kills) and Mason Zeo (three kills, eight digs).

BENSALEM 3, GLEN MILLS 0
The Owls swept Glen Mills in a non-league match. Seniors Austin Sherel and Bhav Patel had eight kills each. Joey Conley had five kills and seven aces, and Allen Clinton chipped in with four kills. The Owls were led by Ronak Patel, who had 24 assists and four kills.

Tuesday, April 12
WILLIAM TENNENT 3, ABINGTON 0 (25-14, 25-14, 25-23)
Will Towle led a balanced Tennent attack with 10 kills, and Jake Milnazik added nine. Brendan Carter contributed seven in the Panthers’ sweep of the Ghosts.

PENNSBURY 3, NESHAMINY 0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-28)
