SOL Boys' Volleyball Wrap (4-14/15-16)

PENNRIDGE 3, SOUDERTON 1 (25-15, 21-25, 27-25, 25-11)
Setter Jesse Smith handed out 43 assists and also had five service aces in the Rams’ win over the Indians. Ben Chinnici had a big night at the net, delivering 23 kills to go along with eight digs. Cross Edwards added nine kills, six digs and two aces, and Kevin Jones contributed six kills and three blocks. Aaron Nelson (four kills, two aces) and Josiah Friesen (five kills) also contributed. Austin Rush led the defense with nine digs.
For the Indians, Sam Hess led the way at the net with 10 kills and eight digs. Setter Jack Pagan had 18 assists and three aces. Manny Espaillat and Derek DiCesare each had six digs. Nate Klaus had four kills.

CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 3, UPPER DUBLIN 0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-10)
Daniel Klapper had 15 kills to lead the Bucks in Friday’s sweep of the Cardinals. Ryan Alu contributed nine kills and nine digs. Setter Matt Douple had 37 assists, two aces and 11 digs. Will Varner had five kills and 12 digs. Libero Sam Winderman led the defense with 25 digs.

CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, QUAKERTOWN 0 (25-23, 25-17, 27-25)
Mike Dierolf led the Panthers with 10 kills and five digs. Zach Dierolf added five kills and five blocks while Kevin Steich had three kills and two digs. Logan Spieker had four kills and seven digs, and Justin Flor added three kills. Setter Drew Stout had 22 assists. Zac Mahler’s 10 digs led the defense, and Kevin Finlayson added three digs.
East was led by Pierce Budson, who tallied 7 kills and 9 blocks. Eric Chmiel contributed 6 kills and a block.Carter Haban managed 6 kills, 3 digs, and 3 blocks, while Chris Woolslayer had 2 digs, 4 kills, and 2 blocks. The Patriots defense was led by Jarred Minschwaner who picked up 8 digs and added 4 aces, 4 kills, and 3 blocks. Mason Miller directed the offense with 29 assists, and 2 digs.

Thursday, April 14
WILLIAM TENNENT 3, BENSALEM 0 (25-12, 25-21, 25-16)
Setter Hunter Reid handed out 35 assists and also had one ace and one block in the Panthers’ sweep of the Owls on Thursday. Jake Milnazik led a balanced attack with 11 kills, two aces and two blocks, and Will Towle added eight kills and two blocks. Brendan Carter contributed six kills, one ace and one block, and Dennis Rodkey had five kills, one ace and three blocks. Andrew Zhurbich led the defense with 10 digs to go along with two aces.

CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 3, ABINGTON 0 (25-19, 25-8, 25-16)
Daniel Klapper had 10 kills while Will Varner added five kills, nine aces and six digs. Setter Matt Douple had 29 assists and 10 digs. Sam Winderman also had 10 digs.

UPPER DUBLIN 3, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 1 (25-22, 25-23, 19-25, 25-16)
For the Titans, setter Mark Macios spread the ball around with 25 assists. Middle Jack Mayhew led the team with 6.5 blocks, and Justin Koren had a team-high 12 kills. Also contributing were senior Tyler Grochowski with three kills and 1.5 blocks and freshman Mason Zeo with seven digs.
“It was a close match most of the way, but they were able to separate in the fourth set with some strong serving and hitting,” South coach Matt Ehlers said.
