SOL Boys' Volleyball Wrap (4-18-18)

ABINGTON 3, WILLIAM TENNENT 0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-18)
The Ghosts won their first league game of the season on the road at William Tennent. “The defense was tough tonight, picking up a lot of good hits as well as getting a lot of great blocks,” coach Christine Steinmetz said.
Sean Dougherty had 31 digs, Jacob Brandt had 10 digs and Charlie Viola had seven digs. Juan Perez had eight blocks while Danny Gonzalez, Jason Lockhart and Peter Dougherty each had two blocks.
Offensively the Ghosts were led by Danny Gonzalez with 16 kills, Josh Harkins with seven kills, Shane Collins with four kills as well as Jason Lockhart, Juan Perez and Peter Dougherty with two kills each.
The match ended with a solid dig from TJ Dougherty, which allowed Sean Dougherty to set Shane Collins on the right side for the final kill of the night tipping of the block and falling to the ground.

PENNRIDGE 3, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 1 (25-18, 25-27, 25-16, 25-19)
The Rams and Bucks split the first two sets with the Bucks winning a hard-fought second set. The Rams went on to win the next two to improve to 8-1 in SOL play.
Cross Edwards turned in a stellar outing for the Rams, leading the way with 27 kills, 11 digs and three aces. Zach Detwiler had a big night of his own with 14 kills and four blocks, and Kevin Jones added nine kills and two blocks. Mike Molettiere (four kills, three blocks) and David Cassel (two kills) also contributed at the net.
Pennridge setter Corey Quaste had 47 assists and two blocks. Jeremy Pruss (12 digs), Danny Rutter (five digs) and Ethan Lionetti (five digs) made important contributions defensively.
For the Bucks, Eli Gibson had 14 kills and seven digs, and Ryan Gunsiorowski added seven kills while George Vicente had six kills and eight digs. Setter Adam Klapper had 25 assists. Jason Miller added seven digs.
Pennridge (8-2) will host Parkland on Thursday night.

NORTH PENN 3, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 2 (25-14, 21-25, 15-25, 25-22, 15-9)
The Knights found themselves trailing 2-1 after three sets but rallied to win the next two in a grueling five-set match.
“North Penn was able to take advantage of a couple mistakes and made a couple plays when they needed to in that fifth set,” South coach Matt Ehlers said. “Overall, I couldn't be more proud of the way our team played tonight and am confident that the program is headed in the right direction.”
Knight setter Drew Coles had 41 assists to go along with 23 digs and two kills. He dished off many of his helpers to Michael Wang (17 kills, 25 digs, three aces) and Alex Stoler (15 kills, four blocks, eight digs). Kevin Abraham added eight kills, two blocks and three digs, and Zach Jayes had five kills, one block, one ace and seven digs. Jamie Stewart led the defense with 34 digs to go along with four assists. Isaac Lambert added one ace, two kills and four digs, and Ryan Stewart had nine digs.
Team leaders for the Titans included: Tim White with two aces, eight kills, four blocks, an assist and 11 digs and Andrew Rubas with an ace, 27 assists and  9 digs. Joe Karn had an ace, 11 kills, three blocks and six digs. Jack Hertkorn had three aces, a kill, two blocks and four digs.

CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, QUAKERTOWN 1 (27-25, 25-16, 23-25, 25-17)
Setter Steve Storm directed a balanced East attack, collecting 40 assists and three kills. The beneficiaries of his sets were Carter Haban (19 kills, eight digs), Dylan Colbert (16 kills, 12 digs, five aces), Andrew Bennett (seven kills), Tomas Gallagher-Teske (four kills) and Christian Wolf (three kills, five blocks). East’s defense was bolstered by Jacob LaBouliere with 15 digs and two assists.
For the Panthers, Logan Spieker had 16 kills, one block, one ace and four digs. Josh Moyer added eight kills, two aces and eight digs. Cameron Cronk (two kills, three blocks, three digs), Nathan Barkholz (two kills, four digs) and Justin Flor (three kills, one ace, two digs) also contributed. Setter Zach Frei had two kills, three blocks, one ace, six digs and 24 assists.

COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3, NESHAMINY 0 (25-20, 25-13, 25-15)
Setter Nick Baniewiz directed a balanced Indian offense with 27 assists to go along with one kill. Jack Gunsehnan led the Indians with eight kills and one assist while Harry Wyatt (six kills, three aces) and Justin Burns (six kills, one ace) also made important contributions at the net. Justin Walton, Keven D’Arcy, Sean D’Arcy and Herby Boucard each had three kills while Will Hewitt had one kill and two blocks and Seth Connors added one kill. Eddie Mancinelli led the defense with nine digs to go along with two assists and one ace.
For the Redskins, Ben McGonagle (six kills, four digs) and Tony Camillo (four kills, two blocks) led the way at the net. Setter JD Palmieri had 17 assists and two aces. Alex Swiderski led the defense with 13 digs and one ace. Also contributing were Jesse Marshall (two blocks, two digs), Matt Schwab (two kills, two blocks, one ace), Bert Shen (two kills) and Colin Smith (two kills, one ace).

SOUDERTON 3, UPPER DUBLIN 0 (25-11, 25-13, 25-21)
Ben Campman had 10 kills to lead the Indians at the net while Jared Martin led the Indians defensively with 11 digs.
“We started out strong at the net – played with good focus and kept Upper Dublin out of system,” coach Dave Stastny said.
