SOL Boys' Volleyball Wrap (4-19/20-16)

CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, NORTH PENN 1
Leading the attack for CB East was Chris Woolslayer with 15 kills and seven digs and Jarred Minschwaner, who added nine kills, three aces and four digs. Eric Chmiel contributed eight kills and three blocks, and Carter Haban had six kills, five digs and two blocks. Setter Mason Miller dished out 37 assists while adding a dig and a kill. Dylan Colbert also made contributions at the net, tallying three kills, three aces and four blocks.

COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3, WILLIAM TENNETT 0 (25-22, 25-12, 25-21)
Setter Logan Fuglestad was credited with 24 assists, 12 digs, three aces, one block and one kill in a solid all-around outing in the Indians’ sweep of the Panthers. Jason Yakimiv (11 kills, 13 digs, 2.5 blocks, one assist) and Will Desautelle (10 kills, three digs, two aces, 1.5 blocks) were Fuglestad’s favorite targets. Eric Van Thuyne (five kills, 11 digs, two assists, one block) and Tommy Angelina (five kills, 2.5 bocks, one dig) also contributed. Alex Saraceno (six digs), Aaron Knotts (five digs) and Harry Wyatt (three digs, two aces, one block) made defensive contributions.

PENNSBURY 3, ABINGTON 0 (25-17, 25-13, 22-25, 25-23)
James Greenland had a big night at the net in the Falcons’ sweep of the Ghosts, finishing with 13 kills and a .409 hitting efficiency, two assists, one ace and two digs. Kenny Hickman (six kills, .333, seven aces, two digs, one block) and Mason Reilley (five kills, .300, two blocks) also contributed. Setters Kevin Killoran (six kills, .385, 20 assists, two aces, seven digs) and Sean Sweeney (five kills, 11 assists, 11 digs, two blocks) split setting duties. Brad Edwards had eight digs and one ace, and Anthony Russo had four kills and one block while Charlie Bluestein had two digs.

SOUDERTON 3, UPPER DUBLIN 0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-13)
Ben Campman led the Indians at the net in Wednesday’s sweep of the Flying Cardinals, finishing with eight kills. Dan Hess added six and Nate Klaus had five. Setter Jack Pagan had 20 assists and three aces. Derek DiCesare led the defense with 15 digs while Manny Espaillat had eight.
“(It’s the) start of the second half of the season, and we knew we would need a good team effort to win,” coach Dave Stastny said. “We started slowly, and Upper Dublin took advantage and kept the set close.
“With a couple of good serves and timely hitting, we took set one.  In set two, UD jumped out to a 9-2 lead and kept the lead up to about 19 points when we tied it up and managed to win 25-21. The third set we got into a good rhythm of the game and took the set and match.”

QUAKERTOWN 3, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-11)
The Panthers received contributions from numerous players in Wednesday’s sweep of the Titans. Mike Dierolf led a balanced attack with nine kills and four digs while Logan Spieker had six kills, one dig and two blocks. Also contributing were Graham Wilson (three kills), Josh Moyer (one kill, one ace, one dig), Kevin Steich (two kills, one dig, one ace), Chris Cowan (one kill, one block) and Zach Dierolf (one kill). Setter Drew Stout was credited with 20 assists to go along with one kill and two aces. Zac Mahler had three digs and two aces, and Kevin Finlayson led the Panthers’ service game with four aces.
For the Titans, middle hitter Justin Koren contributed two aces, nine kills, two blocks, five digs and one assist.

PENNRIDGE 3, CHELTENHAM 1 (25-10, 21-25, 25-6, 25-20)
Setter Jesse Smith was credited with 26 assists and three blocks. Cross Edwards had nine kills and six digs while Ben Chinnici added seven kills and 11 aces to lead the Rams’ strong service game. Josiah Friesen added six kills and four aces, and Kevin Jones added seven kills. Corey Quaste had 11 assists.

NESHAMINY 3, BENSALEM 1 (25-14, 23-25, 25-23, 25-19)
The Owls were led by Ronak Patel’s 31 assists and five kills. Joey Conley had 15 kills and seven digs. Bhav Patel, Autin Sherel and Philip Bui all chipped in with five kills apiece.

Tuesday, April 19
NESHAMINY 3, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-14)
Shaun Kelly led the Redskins with 11 kills and nine digs while Kyle Denis had 11 kills, and Joey Verrecchio, seven kills. Setter Miggy Montalvo had 34 assists to go along with five digs. Teddy Krimmel led the ‘Skins defensively with 18 digs.
For the Titans, setter Mark Macios (two kills, two blocks, five digs, 10 assists), middle Justin Koren (eight kills, four blocks, nine digs, two assists) and outside hitter Mason Zeo (two kills, six digs, one assist) all made contributions.

COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3, ABINGTON 0 (25-13, 25-20, 25-17)
Eric Van Thuyne (nine kills, nine digs, one ace, one assist) and Jason Yakimiv (seven kills, 12 digs, three aces, 1.5 blocks) led a balanced Indian attack. Setter Logan Fuglestad finished with 14 assists, four digs, two aces, one kill and one bock. Also making important contributions were Will Desautelle (six kills, four digs, 1.5 blocks, one ace, one assist) and Harry Wyatt (four kills, six digs, three aces). Alex Saraceno had six digs and two aces while Aaron Knotts had three digs and one assist. Robby Ward had nine assists and six digs, and Tommy Angelina had three blocks, one kill and one assist.

CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, LA SALLE 1
Chris Woolslayer (13 kills), Carter Haban (10 kills), Dylan Colbert (nine kills) and Eric Chmiel (seven kills) dominated play at the net. Setter Mason Miller had 43 assists. On a night that saw the Patriots deliver 13 aces, Jared Minschwaner led the way with six and also had five kills while Miller had three and Colbert, two.
Haban led a balanced defensive effort with four digs while Matt Miehle, Minschwaner and Kyle Schmauk each had three.

COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 3, ARCHBISHOP WOOD 0 (25-12, 25-23, 25-12)
Tyler Hondros led the Golden Hawks at the net with 11 kills to go along with three aces and seven digs. Rick Johnston added four kills. Zac Brilliant had five aces.
