SOL Boys' Volleyball Wrap (4-21/22-16)

COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 3, BENSALEM 2 (25-27, 29-31, 25-16, 25-15, 15-11)
The Golden Hawks staged a remarkable comeback after dropping the first two sets, rallying to win the next three in the grueling five-set match against the Owls.
Tyler Hondros had a huge night for the Hawks, finishing with 23 kills, one ace, 14 digs and one block. Rob Reifsteck added eight kills, two aces, eight digs and nine blocks. Jack Geiger had six kills and one block. Sean Rodman led the defense with 16 digs to go along with two aces.
The Owls were led by Ronak Patel who had a strong overall game, finishing with 29 assists, seven kills, three blocks and two aces. Joey Conley, Bhav Patel and Allen Clinton had eight kills apiece for Bensalem.

COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3, PENNSBURY 2 (22-25, 25-14, 24-26, 25-18, 15-11)
The Indians avenged a March 31 loss to the Falcons, winning on the Falcons’ home court after the Falcons did the same in the early season match. Both matches were decided in five sets.
Setter Logan Fuglestad collected 42 assists to go along with seven digs, five kills, three aces and 1.5 blocks. Jason Yakimiv (12 kills, 12 digs, four blocks, two aces) and Will Desautelle (13 kills, three digs, one ace, .5 blocks) led the Indians at the net. Also making important contributions were Eric Van Thuyne (eight kills, seven digs, four aces, two assists) and Sean Helmlinger (seven kills, two digs). Alex Saraceno and Aaron Knotts both had eight digs. Saraceno added an ace. Harry Wyatt finished with three kills and one block while Tommy Angelina (one kill) and Robby Ward (one dig) also chipped in.
Council Rock North (9-1, 7-1 SOL) will travel to Lansdale Catholic on Wednesday for a non-league match.

SOUDERTON 3, CHELTENHAM 0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-19)
The Indians used a solid all around effort to sweep Friday’s match with the Panthers. Mike Pagan led the Indians with 10 kills while Pat Murphy added six. Aaron Moyer led the defense with five digs, and Luke Pagan dished out 16 assists.
Souderton upped its record to 8-2.

WILLIAM TENNENT 3, GEORGE WASHINGTON 1 (25-22, 25-22,  19-25, 27-25)

Thursday, April 21
PENNRIDGE 3, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 1 (25-8, 25-19, 16-25, 25-21)
Jesse Smith (27 assists) and Corey Quaste (14 assists) split setting duties in Thursday’s win over the Titans. Smith added six service aces. Cross Edwards (14 kills, eight digs, three blocks), Josiah Friesen (nine kills), Kevin Jones (six kills, two blocks) and Zach Detweiler (four kills, two blocks) all made important contributions at the net. Jeremy Pruss led the defense with 13 digs and two aces.
For the Titans, Justin Koren had a big night with 12 kills, six blocks, six digs and two aces. Setter Mark Macios spread the ball around, finishing with 17 assists to go along with two blocks and six digs. Middle hitter Joe Karn finished with three kills, four blocks and four digs. Libero David Lulko, according to coach Matt Ehlers, played an inspired match with great passing off serve.  He also had a team high 12 digs to go along with an ace and an assist.
“I was so proud of the effort these boys gave today,” Ehlers said. “We really played together and stepped up as a team.
“Every player that I used tonight gave me their all and embraced the role that I asked them to play to the best of their ability. Pennridge is a great team, and to take a game off them was a big step in the right direction for our program.”

Pennridge improves to 9-2 overall (9-1 SOL).

CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 3, QUAKERTOWN 0 (25-17, 25-11, 25-17)
Panther setter Drew Stout was credited with 21 assists. Leading the attack were Mike Dierolf (nine kills, 10 digs), Logan Spieker (seven kills, one block, five digs), Zach Dierolf (six kills, one block) and Graham Wilson (two kills, two blocks). Justin Flor had three digs.
