WILLIAM TENNENT 3, PENNSBURY 2 (25-15, 21-25, 25-20, 20-25, 15-8)

The Panthers won a grueling five-set match against the visiting Falcons.

Joe Layer (8 kills, 1 ace), Joe Vasilevskiy (8 kill, 8 digs, 4 aces), Jack Steilen (7 kills, 6 blocks, 3 aces) and Connor Tucholski (7 kills, 3 blocks) led a balanced Tennent attack. Mike Catelli also made his presence felt at the net with five blocks. Cody Keeny (9 digs, 3 aces) and Anthony Bruno (7 digs) anchored the defense. Setter Paul Nedeoglo had 31 assists, one ace and two blocks.

For the Falcons, Nate Knapp (15 kills, .364 hitting, 1 ace, 7 digs) had a big night at the net. Nate Sadley (9 kills, 1 ace, 1 block), Ryan Matteo (7 kills, 8 digs, 1 block) and Brian Drewes (6 kills, 2 assists, 2 aces, 6 digs, 1 block) also made their presence felt at the net. Setter Jon Nixon had 31 assists, three kills, one ace, 10 digs and three blocks. Brady Burgfechtel (17 digs, 5 assist, 3 aces) led the Falcons’ defense. Evan Brown (1 kill), Noah Maslow (2 digs, 2 aces) and Josh Flax (2 aces) also contributed.

William Tennent (10-2, 9-2 SOL) will host William Tennent in a non-league match on Friday, and Pennsbury (4-6, 4-5) will travel to Council Rock South on Tuesday.

 

NESHAMINY 3, BENSALEM 0 (25-11, 25-18, 25-17)

Setter Josh Adler spread the ball around, distributing 31 assists to go along with three digs in the Redskins’ sweep of the Owls.

Kieran Edwards had a huge night at the net, finishing with 18 kills and a dazzling .857 hitting percentage. He also had two blocks. Josh Clendening added seven kills, one ace, three digs and one block. Also contributing were Dan Berzin (6 aces, 5 kills, 4 digs, 4 blocks), Ben Clendening (2 kills, 1 block), Michael Sooby (6 digs, 1 assist), Josh Hamilton (2 aces, 2 kills, 2 digs, 1 assist), Brandon Sloskey (1 kill, 1 dig) and Liam Smith (1 assist).

Neshaminy (12-0, 8-0 SOL) will travel to Cheltenham on Monday, and Bensalem (6-7, 3-7) will host Avon Grove in a non-league match Monday.

 

COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3, ABINGTON 2 (15-25, 25-21, 20-25, 25-20, 15-8)

The Indians rallied from a 2-1 deficit to win the next two sets, escaping with the hard-fought win.

Anthony DePaolo (13 kills, 1 ace, 1 block, 6 digs), Luke Sill (12 kills, 2 aces, 1 block, 19 digs), Brady Klein (10 kils, 2 aces, 1 block, 15 digs), Nick Alleborn (8 kills, 1 block, 2 digs) and Keertan Palayam (5 kills, 6 digs) led a balanced Rock North attack. Setter Dylan VanSchaick had 39 assists, 17 digs, one kill and one block. Nick Cirincione’s 26 digs led the defense. Jack DePalo added 11 digs.

Council Rock North (13-2, 8-1 SOL) will host La Salle in a non-league match Friday, and Abington (8-5, 3-5) will host Cheltenham on Friday.

 

SOL American Conference

 

CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, NORTH PENN 1

East’s seniors led the way against North Penn in Thursday’s four-set win.

Connor Callaghan totaled six kills, two aces, three digs and a block. Andrew Perillo added six kills, two blocks, and two digs. Josh Lyzinski was an intimidating force at the net with four blocks, four kills, and three aces. Cyrus Patel was a steadying defensive influence in serve receive and also picked up a dig and an ace.
Once again, Matt LaBouliere had a huge night, pounding 14 kills, and dishing 11 assists while adding five aces, and 15 digs. Pat Haurin accumulated seven digs, three blocks, two aces, and nine kills.
Ryan Coxey tallied 11 assists and a dig, and Ethan Scott added a block and a dig. Steve DiRugeris added two digs, and Aiden Leichter had a nice defensive effort with 17 digs to go along with six aces and two kills.

Central Bucks East (9-5, 7-4 SOL) will host Quakertown on Tuesday, and North Penn (6-8, 4-6) will host Upper Dublin on Tuesday.

 

QUAKERTOWN 3, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 0 (25-21, 25-19, 27-25)

The visiting Panthers earned a sweep of the Titans.

Micah Reinford (13 kills, 4 aces, 2 blocks, 7 digs, 2 assists) and Zender Marks (10 kills, 2 blocks, 1 ace, 3 digs) were an effective one-two punch at the net. Setter Cody Steiert had 21 assists, one kill, one block, one ace and three digs. Also contributing were Andrew Sturgess (3 kills, 2 blocks, 1 dig), Kurt Glaeser (5 digs, 1 ace), Anthony Clark (4 digs), Logan Parker (4 digs) and Kevin Richwine (1 kill).

Quakertown (4-8, 3-6 SOL) will host Southern Lehigh in a non-league match Friday, and Central Bucks South (1-14, 0-10) will host Council Rock North on Monday.

 

PENNRIDGE 3, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 2 (17-25, 25-22, 25-23, 21-25, 16-14)

The Bucks extended the Rams to five sets, but the Rams eked out a win in the fifth and final set.

Tyler Johnson had 18 kills and an impressive .500 hitting percentage. He also had six blocks. Jude Rotondo (16 kills, 8 digs, 3 aces), Nick Smith (10 kills, 5 blocks), Thomas McKinney (5 kills, 16 digs) and Bryce Ammon (5 kills, 3 aces, 4 blocks) also made their presence felt at the net. Alex Derk led the defense with 19 digs to go along with two aces. Riley Kodidek added 10 digs and three blocks.

Pennridge (9-1) will travel to Dock Mennonite for a non-league match on Friday. Central Bucks West (2-12, 2-9) will host Central Bucks South on Tuesday.

 

Wednesday, April 27

ABINGTON 3, PENNSBURY 2 (15-25, 25-21, 20-25, 25-18, 16-14)

Abington trailed the Falcons two sets to one but came back to force a fifth winner-take-all set and edged the Falcons 16-14 to notch the hard-fought win.
“This was a big win against a tough Pennsbury team,” Abington coach Jason Barshinger said. “Myles Winegrad had a standout performance for us tonight, hitting .636 and tallying 15 kills. I’m impressed with and proud of our fight in these long matches.”

In addition to 15 kills, Winegrad also had one assist, four aces and 1.5 blocks. Xavier Voit (7 kills, 1 ace, 6 blocks) and Zach Miller (6 kills, 1 ace, 1 block) also came up big at the net. Setter Colin Mulvihill had 29 assists, four kills and one ace. Jake Kosik led the defense with 13 digs to go along with one assist and one ace. Ben Holler (3 kills, 3 digs, 1.5 blocks), Michael Lyou (1 kill, .5 block) and Patrick McBride (5 digs, 1 assist) also made important contributions.

For the Falcons, Nathan Sadley (18 kills, .333, 4 aces, 3 blocks, 2 digs), Brian Drewes (12 kills, .417, 2 assists, 1 ace, 4 digs), Evan Brown (8 kills, 1 dig, 5 blocks) and Nate Knapp (7 kills, .353, 5 aces, 8 digs) made their presence felt at the net. Setter John Nixon dished out 46 assists and also had five kills (.556 hitting percentage), two aces, eight digs and five blocks. Brady Burgfechtel had eight digs and two assists, and Ryan Mateo added two kills, two assists and five digs.

The win was the fifth in a row for the Ghosts.
