HEMPFIELD 3, PENNRIDGE 2 (25-22, 22-25, 20-25, 25-13, 15-11)
Fans fortunate enough to make the trip to Pennridge High School Friday night saw a classic battle between seventh-ranked Pennridge and a Hempfield squad ranked fourth in the state. Although the Rams didn’t come out on top, they proved they could more than hold their own against the state’s top teams.
Setter Jesse Smith had a busy night with 46 assists and nine digs. Ben Chinnici was Smith’s go-to guy, and he delivered in a big way, finishing with 29 kills to go along with 12 digs, four blocks and two aces. Also contributing at the net were Kevin Jones (eight kills, three blocks), Cross Edwards (five kills, 14 digs), Josiah Friesen (four kills, five blocks) and Aaron Nelson (four kills, two blocks). Austin Rush led the defense with 16 digs, and Jeremy Baum added five digs.
Pennridge (13-3, 11-1 SOL) will travel to Central Bucks West on Monday night.

SOUDERTON 3, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 1 (25-02, 16-25, 25-22, 25-17)
Sam Hess (13 kills) and Ben Campman (12 kills) had big nights at the net to lead the Indians. Campman also had nine digs and Hess added seven. Setter Luke Pagan had 38 assists.
Coach Dave Stastny credited Nate Klaus and Kyle Wetzler for a strong serving night.
“We started out playing anxious,” the Indians’ coach said. “Halfway through the match, we got into a rhythm.”
For the Patriots, Chris Woolslayer delivered a 17-kill effort. Carter Haban added 12 kills, Dylan Colbert contributed 11, and Eric Chmiel had seven. Andrew Bennett had seven digs and Haban added six.

NORTH PENN 3, QUAKERTOWN 2 (25-18, 17-25, 25-12, 22-25, 15-11)
Setter Ryan Ko had a big match for the Knights, finishing with 29 assists, 14 digs, five blocks and three aces. Bobby Dean added 12 kills and five digs, and Manan Patel led the defense with 21 digs. Harsh Boghara had eight kills and two blocks, and Steven Landes added nine kills, seven digs and four aces.
Mike Dierolf led the Panthers at the net, finishing with 14 kills to go along with eight digs. Zach Dierolf added six kills, four digs and two blocks, Logan Spieker had four kills, five digs, three blocks and one ace, and Graham Wilson added three kills and four blocks. Setter Drew Stout had 23 assists. Zac Mahler (10 digs) and Kevin Finlayson (two digs) contributed defensively. Kevin Steich added two blocks.

CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 3, CHELTENHAM 0 (25-14, 25-8, 25-11)
Daniel Klapper (10 kills, three aces) and Will Varner (seven kills, five aces) led the Bucks at the net. Setter Matt Douple had 13 assists and five digs. Karl Williams (six kills) and Adam Phillips (four kills) also contributed. Libero Sam Winderman had 15 digs to go along with three aces.

Thursday, April 28
ABINGTON 3, BENSALEM 1
Jay Bynum (20 kills, five blocks) and Jack Steinman (13 kills, three blocks) dominated play at the net for the Ghosts. TJ Dougherty’s 12 digs led the defense. Setter Alex Peres had 35 assists, eight aces and seven digs.
For the Owls, Ronak Patel led the way with 25 assists and five kills. Harish Patel stepped up with six kills and four blocks. Bhav Patel (eight kills), Austin Sherel (seven kills) and Allen Clinton (four kills) all played well at the net. Hari Patel (eight digs) and Brian Huynh (five digs) also played well defensively, according to coach Tim Linehan.

WILLIAM TENNENT 3, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 2 (21-25, 24-26, 25-13, 25-15, 15-13)
The Panthers found themselves staring at a 2-0 deficit after two sets, but with their backs pressed firmly against the wall, they won the next three to win the tightly contested match.
Jake Milnazik led the Panthers with 18 kills and two aces. Will Towle (six kills, two blocks), Brendan Carter (six kills, eight digs, two blocks) and Dennis Rodkey (four kills, five blocks) also made important contributions at the net. Setter Hunter Reid was credited with 42 assists to go along with three aces and three bocks. Andrew Shurbich had a pair of aces.
For the Golden Hawks, Tyler Hondros finished with a double-double – 13 kills and 13 digs. Sean Rodman had 13 digs and one ace. Also contributing were Rick Johnston (five kills, two blocks), Rob Reifsteck (six kills, three blocks) and AJ Fesmire (five kills, three blocks).

COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3, NESHAMINY 0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-17)
Jason Yakimiv led the Indians with 13 kills, five digs, two blocks and one ace, and Eric Van Thuyne added seven kills, four digs and one ace. Setter Logan Fuglestad had 25 assists, three digs and two aces. Tommy Angelina (four kills, one block) Alex Saraceno (six digs, one assist), Aaron Knotts (four digs), Robby Ward (two kills, one dig, one ace), Harry Wyatt (one kill, three digs) and Keven D’Arcy (one kill, one block) also contributed.
Council Rock North (11-1, 8-1 SOL) will compete in the Quakertown Tournament on Saturday.
