National Conference

 

Pennsbury 3, Council Rock South 0 (25-10 25-11, 25-14)

Nate Sadley posted 13 kills, a .688 hitting percentage, 4 digs, and 2 blocks, while Jon Nixon had 18 assists, to go along with 3 kills, 4 aces, 2 digs, and 1 block as Pennsbury rolled to a straight-sets victory over Council Rock South in Tuesday’s game.

Brady Burgfechtel recorded 5 aces and 5 digs, Nate Knapp had 4 kills and 3 aces, Brian Drewes picked up 2 kills, 1 assist, and 3 aces, and Noah Maslow served 3 aces and added 4 digs. Evan Brown had 2 kills, Josh Flax 1 dig, and Jake Bucksar 2 aces as the Falcons improve to 2-2 National Conference, 2-2 overall. South drops to 1-2, 1-4.

The Falcons host archrival Neshaminy at 4:30 pm Thursday, while the Golden Hawks host William Tennent at 6 pm Thursday.

 

William Tennent 3, Council Rock North 0

Cody Keeny racked up 17 digs and Anthony Buono added 13 digs as William Tennent handed Council Rock North its first loss of the season in a straight-sets 3-0 win in Tuesday’s matchup.

Paul Nedeoglo had 29 assists, 3 aces, and 2 blocks, while Joe Vasilevskiy powered the Panther offense with 11 kills and 1 ace, along with 2 blocks. Jay Layer had 9 kills, 3 aces, and 8 digs, Jack Steilen posted 4 kills and 2 blocks, Mike Catelli picked up 2 kills and 2 blocks, and Connor Fleming added 3 kills.

Tennent improves to 3-1 National Conference, 4-1 overall, and will visit Council Rock South for a 6 pm Thursday game. North moves to 3-1, 5-1, and will host Bensalem at 5 pm Thursday.

 

Bensalem 3, Cheltenham 0

 

American Conference

 

Pennridge 3, Souderton 1 (25-23, 23-25, 25-17, 26-24)

The Ram improved to 4-0 on the young season after a hard fought win over the Indians.

Setter Riley Kodidek had 30 assists, five blocks, five aces and 10 digs. Jude Rotondo (12 kills, 6 digs), Tyler Johnson (8 kills, 5 blocks, 3 aces), Thomas McKinney (8 kills, 9 digs) and Nick Smith (2 kills, 3 blocks) led the Rams at the net. Alex Derk led the defense with 14 digs and five aces.

For the Indians, Kavailya Bhatt had never played setter before, but with Levi Leatherman lost to injury, Bhatt was called upon to step up and fill in for Leatherman. He answered the call, dishing out 23 assists.

“Kavailya came in having never set before in a match and played incredible against one of the best teams in the district,” said Souderton coach Luke Pinto. “I am so proud of what he was able to do. He is an awesome player and person.”

Nate Brown had 14 kills for the Indians and Andrew Brown had 13. Alec Kreiser and Jeremy Garboso and played well for the Indians.

“This was a great test for our team and I’m very proud of these guys,” Pinto said.

Pennridge improves to 4-0 American Conference, 4-0 overall, and will host Upper Dublin at 6:30 pm Thursday. Souderton falls to 2-2, 2-3, and will take to the road to visit Quakertown for a 6:45 pm Thursday game.

 

Upper Dublin 3, North Penn 1

David Levin dished out 31 assists and Benjamin Dorsey piled up 14 kills and 10 digs as Upper Dublin rebounded from Monday’s 5-set loss to Council Rock North by downing North Penn in four sets in Tuesday’s league matchup.

Levin added 4 kills, 7 aces, and 7 digs to his totals, while Dorsey had 1 ace and 1 block.

Ari Weiner had 4 kills and 1 dig for the Cardinals, Cole Brown registered 8 assists, 1 ace, and 2 digs, Dominick Plaku had 13 digs and 1 ace, Landon Kullmann recorded 10 kills, 8 digs, and 2 blocks, and Terrell Turner had 9 kills, 4 digs, and 2 aces.

“We got contributions from everyone in the lineup,” said UD coach Paul Choi. “This was a good way to rebound.”

The Cardinals remain undefeated in conference play at 4-0 (4-2 overall), and return to action Thursday for a 6:30 pm game at Pennridge. North Penn drops to 1-3, 2-4, and will host Central Bucks South at 7 pm Thursday.

 

Central Bucks East 3, Quakertown 1 (24-26, 25-18, 25-20, 25-23)

Central Bucks East won the last two hotly contested sets to pull off a hard-fought four-set victory over Quakertown on Tuesday.

Matt LaBouliere had an amazing effort for the Patriots, totaling 24 kills, 5 aces, 7 assists, and 13 digs. Josh Lyzinski also piled up 11 kills, while Andrew Perillo and Reid Miller each had 9 kills.

Defensively, the Patriots were anchored by Steve DiRugeris (12 digs), Aiden Leichter (10 digs), and Ryan Coxey, who had 14 digs while adding a whopping 40 assists. AJ Helveston added 6 kills and 3 digs, and Pat Haurin contributed 3 kills and 4 digs.

Micah Reinford powered Quakertown with 19 kills, 1 block, 1 ace, and 17 digs, while Zander Marks posted 10 kills, 2 aces, and 15 digs.

Cody Steiert dished out 32 assists for Quakertown in addition to 2 blocks, 1 kill, 1 ace, and 7 digs. Kevin Richwine had 2 kills and 1 dig, Andrew Sturgess added 1 kill, and Isaac Moises nabbed 4 blocks. Kurt Glaeser (13 digs), Logan Parker (5 digs), and Anthony Clark (5 digs) each served 1 ace, while Zane Smith registered 2 digs.

The Patriots keep pace with the conference leaders, improving to 4-1 American, 5-2 overall. They will host neighborhood rival Central Bucks West at 6:30 pm Thursday. Quakertown moves to 1-4, 1-4, and will host Souderton at 6:45 pm Thursday.

 

Central Bucks West 3, Central Bucks South 1

 

Non-league

Neshaminy 3, Dock Mennonite Academy 1 (25-22, 25-21, 20-25, 25-14)

The Redskins used a balanced and diverse attack to defeat the visiting Pioneers in a non-league battle.

Josh Clendening (9 kills, 1 ace, 3 digs, 3 blocks), Dan Berzin (8 kills, 3 digs, 2 blocks), Josh Hamilton (8 kills, 3 aces, 2 digs), Ben Clendening (7 kills, 8 blocks), and Kieran Edwards (6 kills, 1 dig) all made big contributions at the net.

Setter Josh Adler handed out 33 assists to go along with two aces and three digs. Michael Sooby led the defense with 11 digs as well as two assists. Brandon Sloskey had one ace and one dig.

Neshaminy (4-0, 2-0 SOL) will host Abington Wednesday.
