SOL Boys' Volleyball Wrap (4-6&7-16)

BENSALEM 3, ABINGTON 2 (25-19, 21-25, 23-25, 25-21, 16-14)
The Owls won a grueling five-set match over the Ghosts. Setter Ronak Patel had an outstanding overall game, registering 27 assists, five kills, five digs, two blocks and two aces. The Owls’ attack was led by Austin Sherel with 12 kills and Joey Conley with 10 kills, six digs and one block. Libero Hari Patel had 14 digs for the Owls, who improved to 1-3 in league play.
Joe Bynum had a huge night for the Ghosts with 21 kills and eight blocks. Ben Razi had eight kills and two blocks while Jack Steinman had four kills and eight blocks. TJ Dougherty led the defense with 27 digs. Cole Santora had four kills and 13 digs. Setter Alex Peres had 36 assists.

COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3, NESHAMINY 0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-8)
The Indians featured a balanced attack in Thursday’s sweep of the Redskins. Setter Logan Fuglestad was credited with 17 assists, nine digs, three kills, three aces and two blocks. Jason Yakimiv (five kills, 10 digs, five blocks, one ace), Eric Van Thuyne (four kills, four digs, 1.5 blocks, one ace), Tommy Angelina (four kills, one block) and Will Desautelle (three kills, one dig, one block) all contributed to the Indians’ attack. Aaron Knotts led the defense with 12 digs. Sean Helmlinger (two kills, five digs, one block), Robby Ward (two digs, one ace), Alex Saraceno (two digs) and Harry Wyatt (one kill) also made contributions.
Council Rock North will host George Washington Friday (3:30 p.m.).

WILLIAM TENNENT 3, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 1 (25-18, 20-25, 25-16, 25-15)
Jake Milnazik finished with a game-high 13 kills, and Will Towle added 10 kills and two blocks to lead the Panthers at the net. Brendan Carter had eight kills, three aces and three blocks, and Dennis Rodkey had five kills and two blocks for the Panthers.
Tyler Hondros finished with an impressive double-double – 10 kills and 15 digs - to lead the Golden Hawks. Rob Reifsteck added eight kills and 12 digs. Sean Rodman had 11 digs, and Rick Johnston had two blocks.

PENNRIDGE 3, UPPER DUBLIN 0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-18)
Pennridge setter Jesse Smith was credited with 26 assists to go along with six service aces. Ben Chinnici and Cross Edwards both had nine kills to lead a balanced Ram attack. Josiah Friesen added six kills, Aaron Nelson had three kills and four aces, and Kevin Jones contributed two kills and two blocks. Jeremy Baum led the defense with nine digs.
Pennridge (5-0) will travel to defending PIAA Class AAA state champion Parkand on Friday night for a non-league showdown.
Wednesday, April 6
SOUDERTON 3, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-20)
The Indians rebounded from their sweep at the hands of Emmaus the preceding night to win in three straight over the host Titans.
“We came out with more focus on one play at a time,” coach Dave Stastny said. “In the first set, we were able to take a 5-3 lead and build on it with good team offense and solid defense.
“We got off to rocky start in the second set, and CB South took advantage. (We were) able to get some momentum later in the set. The third set was like the second set. CB South outplayed us to take a 10-4 lead, but we were able to get some good serves in and with a few good hits to gain the lead at 15-14. We finished it with a 10-6 run.”
Sam Hess led the Indians with seven kills. Mike Pagan added six kills while Nate Klaus and Ben Chapman added five each. Jack Pagan had 19 assists, and Luke Pagan added 12 assists. Jaret Gower, Derek DiCesare, Nate Klaus and Pat Murphy each had five digs. Ian Saucy chipped in an ace.
For the Titans, setter Mark Macios had 17 assists, and libero David Lulko had 10 digs and recorded his first kill with a well-placed down ball attack. Outside hitter Justin Koren finished with eight kills and seven digs, and middle Jack Mayhew had four blocks and an ace.
“Tonight wasn’t really our night, and I don’t feel we played to our potential,” coach Matt Ehlers said. “We have three first-year players on varsity and some growing pains should be expected while we’re still learning to play together.”

CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 3, NORTH PENN 0 (25-17, 25-14, 25-8)
Daniel Klapper led the Bucks at the net in Wednesday’s sweep of the visiting Knights, finishing with 11 kills and eight digs. Same Winderman led the way defensively with 12 digs. Ryan Alu added eight kills and nine digs. Setter Matt Douple had 33 assists and 11 digs. Zach Paley added six kills and two blocks.

NESHAMINY 3, UPPER DUBLIN 0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-23)
The Redskins earned a hard fought sweep of the Flying Cardinals. Setter Miguel Montalvo was credited with 27 assists for the ‘Skins. Shaun Kelly led the attack with 13 kills while Kyle Denis (eight kills, two blocks) and Joey Verrecchio (eight kills, four blocks) also came up big at the net. Teddy Krimmel led the defense with 19 digs.
For the Cardinals, Evan Madden led the way with 15 kills, two aces and four digs. Calvin Chan added five kills and three digs, and Joe Choi added three aces, four assists and nine digs. Setter Jose Palomeque added 21 assists and 10 digs.

PENNRIDGE 3, QUAKERTOWN 0 (25-12, 25-19, 25-16)
Six players had at least four kills in a Pennridge attack that was the definition of balanced. Aaron Nelson (five kills, five blocks), Kevin Jones (five kills, two blocks), Ben Chinnici (five kills, four aces), Cross Edwards (five kills, four aces), Josiah Friesen (four kills, five blocks) and Ryan Spangler (four kills) all made contributions at the net. Setter Jesse Smith had 25 assists and two aces. Austin Rush led the defense with six digs.
For the Panthers, Zach Dierolf had six kills, and Graham Wilson had two kills and two blocks.

CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, CHELTENHAM 0
The Patriots’ attack was spearheaded by Pierce Budson with five kills and six aces in Wednesday’s sweep of the Panthers. Dylan Colbert added six kills, and setter Mason Miller dished out 23 assists. Andrew Bennett and Eric Chmiel each collected three kills while Jarred Minschwaner and Chris Woolslayer both had five aces.
