SOL Boys' Volleyball Wrap (4-8-16)

UPPER DUBLIN 3, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 0 (25-12, 25-11, 25-13)
Evan Madden had 12 kills to go along with one ace and two digs in a big night at the net for the Flying Cardinals. Calvin Chan had seven kills, five digs and one ace, and Andy Katz added six kills. Setter Jose Palomeque had 24 assists as well as three digs and one ace, and Joe Choi led the defense with 10 digs to go along with three assists. Matthew Ross also contributed, finishing with four kills, four digs and two aces.
For the Titans, freshman outside hitter Mason Zeo got his first varsity kill and recorded three digs, and sophomore Jack Monson, according to coach Matt Ehlers, helped with the passing and defense.
“Upper Dublin played very well, and we were never able to find any momentum either offensively and defensively,” Ehlers said. “Not sure what happened, but we didn’t seem ready to play today.
“We were able to get some younger guys some playing time.”

CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, SOUDERTON 2 (25-20, 22-25, 25-18, 23-25, 15-11)
The Indians extended the Patriots to five sets, but the Patriots prevailed. Coming up big for the Patriots were Chris Wooslayer (14 kills, 10 digs, two aces, one block), Pierce Budson (12 kills, two blocks), Eric Chmiel (10 kills), Jared Minschwaner (nine kills, two aces, seven digs) and Carter Haban (eight kills, three aces). Setter Miller Mason had 52 assists, two kills, one ace and two digs in a standout effort.

NORTH PENN 3, QUAKERTOWN 0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-22)
For the Panthers, Zach Dierolf and Logan Spieker each had nine kills. Setter Drew Stout had 14 assists.

PARKLAND 3, PENNRIDGE 0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-16)
The Rams suffered their first loss of the season in match play to the defending Class AAA state champions. Setter Jesse Smith had 29 assists and two blocks. Ben Chinnici had a big night at the net, finishing with 18 kills. Josiah Friesen had seven kills, and Aaron Nelson added five kills and four blocks. Jeremy Baum had five digs.

COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3, GEORGE WASHINGTON 0 (25-22, 25-7, 25-21)
Setter Logan Fuglestad had a solid all-around outing for the Indians, contributing 22 assists, six digs, five aces, one block and one kill`. Will Desautelle (seven kills, four digs, 1.5 blocks, one ace) and Jason Yakimiv (six kills, nine digs, 4.5 blocks) led the Indians at the net. Tommy Angelina (four kills, 5.5 blocks), Eric Van Thuyne (three kills, five digs, one ace) and Harry Wyatt (four kills, two digs, 1.5 blocks, one ace) also made important contributions. Alex Sarceno led the Indians defense while Aaron Knotts added six digs and Sean Helmlinger, one dig.

NORTHEASTERN 3, PENNSBURY 0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-22)
