It’s always a spirited match with the neighboring rivals do battle. CB East -coming off several hard-fought losses and injuries – had a lot to prove against a strong CB West team. For the seniors, it was more than likely their final opportunity to face West, and emotions were flying high.
After dropping the first set, the Patriots came back to win the next three, earning a sweep in their season series with the Bucks.
“We had a great practice yesterday and felt very comfortable coming into tonight’s match, especially with middle blocker Pierce Budson and outside hitter Jarred Minschwaner back in the lineup,” coach Scott Geller said. “Tonight was the rebound match that we needed to regain our confidence.

SOUDERTON 3, CHRISTOPHER 2 (25-18, 31-29, 23-25, 23-25, 15-11)
It looked as if the visiting Indians might be in for a short match after eking out a 31-29 win to take a 2-0 lead over the Pioneers. That wasn’t the case. The Pioneers won the next two sets, setting up a winner-take-all fifth set.
“It was one of those matches that both teams wanted to win, and the play on both teams was spirited and well played,” coach Dave Stastny said. “In the first set, we were able to get a run at the end of the set.
“The second set was a fun set to be a part of – both teams had opportunities to win, and both teams battled. In the fifth set, we were able to jump out to a 3-0 lead, which helped us hold on to win 15-11. It was a big win against a local rival. So many players contributed in a team effort.”
Sam Hess and Ben Campman led the Indians with 18 kills each. Setter Luke Pagan had 43 assists. Derek DiCesare had two digs. Stastny also credited Kyle Wetzler, Mike Pagan, Nate Klaus, Pat Murphy, Jaret Gower and Aaron Moyer for their contributions.
