SOL Boys' Volleyball Wrap (5-5-22)

SOL American Conference

Pennridge 3, Upper Dublin 0 (25-20, 26-16, 25-15)
The battle of two of the SOL's strongest teams and the top two teams in the SOL American went in the Rams' favor on Thursday, while the Cardinals took their first conference loss. Both teams have one loss in conference play.
Riley Kodidek continued his stellar senior season for Pennridge with 26 assists, 12 digs, four aces and four blocks while Jude Rotondo had another strong game offensively with 13 kills and eight digs. Senior middle hitter Tyler Johnson put up seven kills and four blocks at the net and Thomas McKinney registered six kills, 12 digs and two aces for the Rams.
Bryce Ammon had six kills, three aces and three blocks, Nick Smith tallied two kills and three blocks and defensively, Alex Derk had seven digs and Ty Porter came up with five digs.
Pennridge (12-1, 11-1 SOL) will host Parkland in a non-league match on Friday, and Upper Dublin (11-4, 10-1) will be on the road at Quakertown on Friday.

North Penn 3, Central Bucks South 1 (25-21, 25-20, 22-25, 25-19)
Brian Landes and Josh Kin were a dual-threat passing combo on Wednesday.
Landes had 20 assists, adding four aces and six kills while Kin chalked up 16 assists.
"The team played hard and came together in a match that easily could’ve gotten away from them," Knights coach Eric Headley said. "Watching them bounce back continuously after things weren’t going their way was a good sign as we head into the final push to compete in the district playoff picture."
Senior Aiden Green had six kills and a block, Aaron Foulke posted seven kills and junior Caleb An chipped in five kills and three blocks.
North Penn (7-9, 5-7 SOL) will travel to Dock Mennonite Academy for a non-league match on Friday, and Central Bucks South (2-16, 0-12) will host Upper Dublin on Monday.

 

Souderton 3, Quakertown 1 (25-15, 17-25, 25-20, 26-24)
After trading sets to open the match, it came down to an extended fourth set before the Indians picked up the SOL win on Thursday.
Nate Brown's arm got plenty of work for Souderton, powering down 27 kills on top of three service aces. Andrew Brown was also a presence with 10 kills, Tobie Lias had four kills and Derek Gilmore was solid in the middle with three kills and three blocks.Defensively, Ethan Frattarelli had six digs and also notched two aces while Alec Kreiser dug five balls off the floor.
For the Panthers,
Zander Marks (12 kills, 2 blocks, 2 aces, 6 digs) and Micah Reinford (11 kills, 1 ace, 10 digs) led the way at the net. Setter Cody Steiert had 24 assists, five kills, one ace, six digs Also making contributions were Andrew Sturgess (3 kills, 3 blocks, 3 digs), Isaac Moises (1 kill, 5 blocks, 1 dig), Phil Richwine (1 block, 1 dig), Kevin Richwine (1 block), Kurt Glaeser (1 ace, 7 digs), Logan Parker (1 ace, 7 digs) and Anthony Clark (1 ace, 3 digs).

Souderton (8-9, 7-5 SOL) will host Central Bucks South on Tuesday, and Quakertown (5-10, 4-7) will host Upper Dublin on Friday.

 

Central Bucks West 3, Central Bucks East 0
In a battle of the neighboring rivals, it was the Bucks earning a sweep of the Patriots.
Leading the way for the Patriots was Matt LaBoulliere with10 kills, nine assists and 12 digs.
Also contributing were Josh Lyzinski (51/2 blocks, 3 kills), Andrew Peril (3 kills, 1 ½ block), Steve DiRugeris (5 digs), Pat Haurin (5 digs, 1 kill), Rhys Marshall (6 assists, 2 digs), AJ Helveston (3 kills, 6 assists, 6 digs), Reid Miller (1 kill, 1 assist, 1 dig) and Aiden Leichter (9 digs).

Central Bucks West (4-13, 4-9) will travel to Pennsbury on Monday, and Central Bucks East (9-7, 7-6) will host Upper Dublin on Tuesday.

 

SOL National Conference


Abington 3, Cheltenham 0 (26-24, 25-16, 25-20)
The Ghosts won the battle with their next-door archrival, taking a tight first set before sweeping the Panthers.
Abington had a lot of success behind the line, led by seven service aces from Dominic DaSilva. DaSilva also posted a kill and a block.
Zach Miller had three aces, Jack Scharnikow had four aces plus two kills and a dig and Mario D'Alessio had three aces with six digs. Colin Mulvihill had eight assists, a kill, two digs and an ace, Shaun Bustin registered four kills, an ace and a dig and Joseph Clark had two kills and a dig.
Malachi Stonehouse had a kill, dig and ace for Abington, Darius Brown had a block and Nikolay Grinyuk picked up and assist.
Abington (10-6, 5-6 SOL) will host Council Rock South on Monday, and Cheltenham (0-13, 0-12) will be on the road at Neshaminy on Tuesday.

 

Council Rock North 3, Bensalem 1 (21-25, 25-17, 25-20, 25-11)
The Indians fell behind after the first set but reeled off the next three thanks to a few standout performances.
Setter Dylan VanSchaick did a little bit of everything for CR North with 30 assists, four aces and 14 digs. Brady Klein posted 10 kills, 14 digs and two aces, Anthony DePalo registered eight kills, two blocks and four digs and Luke Sill was a two-way contributor with nine kills and 12 digs.
Keertan Palayam had eight kills and Nick Alleborn was on tap for seven kills and five blocks. On the defensive end, Nick Crincione swept the floor with 18 digs and three assists.
Council Rock North (15-4, 9-2 SOL) will travel to Pennsbury on Friday, and Bensalem (8-8, 4-8) will be on the road at Lower Merion on Monday for a non-league match.

 

William Tennent 3, Council Rock South 0
With Paul Nedeoglo's 25 assists and two kills setting the pace, the Panthers swept the Golden Hawks on Thursday.
Mike Catelli had six kills and an ace, Greg Pope was in on six kills, two blocks and two aces and Jack Steilen had six kills, two blocks and four aces to lead Tennent's offense. Jay Layer impacted both sides of the net with five kills and six digs, Connor Fleming knocked down five kills and two blocks and Cody Keeny had two aces with his nine digs.
William Tennent (12-2, 11-2 SOL) will host Archbishop Wood in a non-league match Friday, and Council Rock South (2-15, 2-11) will host Lansdale Catholic in a non-league match.

 

Neshaminy 3, Pennsbury 0

 

Wednesday, May 4
Upper Dublin 3, Souderton 0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-22) 
Benjamin Dorsey and David Levin got in plenty of good swings Wednesday as the Cardinals picked up a sweep over the Indians.
Dorsey smacked down 17 kills, adding two aces and six digs while Levin finished off 16 kills plus an ace, assist and eight digs to pace UD with Cole Brown setting things up to the tune of 41 assists and five digs. Dominick Plaku was also a solid contributor with 10 digs, Terrell Turner had seven kills and four aces and Ari Weiner recorded three kills, two aces and four digs.
