SOL Boys/Girls Cross Country Wrap (9-29-21)

Boys

LOWER MORELAND 17, NEW HOPE-SOLEBURY 40

 

Junior Shea Woods broke away from the field over the first two miles to take the win for Lower Moreland with a new PR of 16:34, leading the Lions to a convincing victory at the Bryn Athyn course over New Hope. Teammates Noah Kim, Tom Mavroduis, and Jack Becker finished less than a minute behind Woods for a top four sweep.  New Hope’s Jack Feehan placed fifth, followed by teammate Alex Wilson with a big PR of 18:34. Barton Cooper rounded out the scoring for Lower Moreland finishing seventh while Cameron Kolinchak (8), Braeden Trenti (9), and Brayden Scott (12) completed the top five for New Hope.

ABINGTON 20, QUAKERTOWN 47

The Quakertown HS Cross Country teams narrowly lost to host Abington HS yesterday in a conference dual meet. In the BOYS race, the Panthers were once again led by Senior JOHN JUSZYNSKI, 1st place overall in a time of 17:22.53. The Panthers placed three runners in the TOP 10 with Freshman DOMINIC PESCE (19:38.31) seventh & Junior WILL DICKSON (20:49.76) tenth. The FINAL score was 20-47.

Girls

ABINGTON 25, QUAKERTOWN 32

In the GIRLS race, the LADY PANTHERS were led by Junior REBEKAH HICKEY, 1st place overall, in a time of 21:03.91. The LADY PANTHERS placed four runners in the TOP 10, with Junior KATIE CATALANO (22:34.28), fourth, Freshman ARIANNA SHIROFF (24:07.48), sixth, & Freshman AUTUMN MC NUTT (25:09.38) but it was not enough to overtake Abington, losing by a score of 25-32.

LOWER MORELAND 20, NEW HOPE-SOLEBURY 41  

 

Lower Moreland’s one-two punch of junior Siri Hellenbrand and sophomore Amelia Ogawa took the top two spots of the race, leading the Lower Moreland Lions to victory over a young New Hope squad. Hellenbrand pulled away from Ogawa over the rolling hills of the course to cross the line in 20:10, 15 seconds ahead of her Lion teammate.  New Hope freshman Skylar High paced her Lions as their top runner, finishing in third at 21:31. Running cross country for the first time, Lower Moreland seniors Hannah Vaidyan and Ava Lee finished fourth and seventh respectively, while junior Anna Mazik (6) and freshman Kennedy Durand (8) closed out the top five.  Sophomore captain Nina Meixler (5) along with freshmen Sarah Kearney (11), Anna Botts (12), and Erin Damico (13) rounded out the scoring for New Hope.
