#5 CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 74, #18 ABINGTON 52
The Bucks shook off the offensive doldrums that plagued them in their come-from-behind win over Bishop Shanahan in Wednesday’s playback round, opening up a 22-15 lead at the end of one quarter and extending that to 40-21 by halftime on their way to the impressive win.
Freshman Maggie Rakowsky, one of four West players in double figures, led the way with 19 points, which included two three-pointers and a 5-for-6 effort at the foul line. In a preview of things to come, Rakowsky scored eight points in the first quarter while teammate Peyton Traina added six.
Junior Corrinne Godshall finished with 16 points, which included 7-of-8 from the free throw line. It was Godshall’s eight points that ignited the Bucks in their 18-6 second quarter tear. Makenzie Mason added 11 points, and Nicole Munger, 10 points, on a day that saw the Bucks connect on 24-of-33 from the foul line.
Munger led the Bucks on the boards with nine rebounds while Taylor Moylan added six. Godshall and Mason each had five rebounds. The team had 12 steals in a solid all-around outing.
Deja Rawls led the Ghosts with 12 points while Michael Harris had 10 and Gabby Nolan, eight points.
The Bucks (21-6, 10-4 SOL) will be the district’s fifth place team entering the state tournament, and they will face District 3’s third place squad, Cumberland Valley, in an opening round state game on Friday at Central Dauphin East High School in Harrisburg (5 p.m.). Abington (19-8, 12-2) will take on District 11’s second place squad, Pocono Mountain, at Stroudsburg High School (7 p.m.)

#9 BISHOP SHANAHAN 37, #22 CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 28
The Patriots managed just two points in the first quarter but still found themselves on top 11-8 at halftime in Saturday’s battle for seventh place. The Eagles’ offense came to life in the second half, and they outscored the Patriots 17-8 in the third quarter and 29-17 in the half to earn the win.
Senior center Courtney Webster led the Patriots with 11 points while senior point guard Karoline White added eight.
East (16-10, 8-6 SOL) will face the District 11’s top AAAA team – Parkland - in Friday’s opening round of states at Allen High School (8 p.m.)

#4 SPRING-FORD 65, #22 CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 51
The Bucks looked strong out of the gate, opening up a 15-13 lead after one quarter, but by halftime, the host Rams were on top 26-22. The Rams outscored the Bucks by two in the third quarter and then sealed their fate with a 21-13 fourth quarter.
Nick Stanek led the Rams with 31 points. Evan Dunn topped the Bucks with 18 points while Cal Reichwein had 11 points and Kyle Salvitti, 10 points.
The Bucks (15-11, 8-6 SOL) will face District 11 champion Parkland in Saturday’s opening round of the state tournament at Freedom High School (7:30 p.m.).

#9 LOWER MERION 53, #7 ABINGTON 42 (Friday, Feb. 28)
The Ghosts struggled to put points on the board in both the first and third quarters, and that proved to be the difference between winning and losing in Friday’s fifth place game. The visiting Aces opened up a 15-7 lead after one quarter only to watch the Ghosts go on a 16-10 second quarter tear to make it a 25-23 game at halftime. The Aces outscored the Ghosts 14-5 in the third quarter, and the Ghosts never recovered.
Matt Penecale (11 points) and Amir Hinton (10 points) led the Ghosts, who will face District 11 runner-up Emmaus in Saturday’s opening round of the state tournament at Parkland High School (7:30 p.m.).
