SOL Boys/Girls Lacrosse Wrap (4-23-14)

Boys
ABINGTON 14, COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 6
Once again the Ghosts received a balanced scoring effort. Junior Cameron Leech had a six-point game with two goals and four assists to lead the way. Junior Hunter Jones added three goals and an assist while senior Brian Gallagher and junior Joey Lomady both contributed hat tricks. Senior Will Dulin had two goals and one assist to close out the scoring.
Defensively, senior Matt Gormley was credited with five ground balls. Senior goalie Blake Friedman had six saves playing behind a defensive unit that was led by senior Christian Werner.
Zach Connors and Matt Moller led the Indians with two goals each.

CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 14, PENNRIDGE 5
The Titans sprinted to a 4-0 lead at the end of one quarter and took a 7-2 lead into halftime on their way to the win. Evan Falkowski led the way with three goals and one assist. Three Titan players – Joel Zimmerman, AJ Caputo and Chris Tanner – added two goals. Brendan McGrath and Jimmy Gallagher both had one goal and one assist while Anthony Paone, Jamie Renneisen, and Matt Mignogna each had one goal. Nick Gannon had an assist.
Goalie Robbie Richick was credited with nine saves.

Girls
WISSAHICKON 12, PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 6
Zoe Gomez scored seven goals to help lead the Trojans to the win over the Colonials. Gomez also was credited with three ground balls and a draw control. Lauren Irvine (one assist) and Carolyn Wilde both scored a pair of goals, and Emily Vervlied added a goal and an assist. Rachel Zucker chipped in with an assist.
Defensively, the Trojans were sparked by the 10-save effort of goalie Julie Silverman. Amanda Mitchell had a team-high four ground balls. Wilde and Vervlied also were credited with three ground balls. Wilde had a pair of draw controls.
For the Colonials, Monica Dresnin had a hat trick while Kristen Monte (two goals, one assist) and Rita Trainer (one goal) also contributed to the attack.
“Both teams were pretty even through the first 15 minutes of the game,” said PW coach Ellen Reilly. “Wissahickon led 3-1, and PW had opportunities to tie the game, but turnovers allowed Wissahickon to capitalize on PW mistakes.”
According to the PW coach, jayvee goalie Alexa Augustine stepped into the cage for Emily Miller, who is sidelined with a concussion.

UPPER MERION 11, INTERBORO 9
Julia Reinert and Jackie Schauble led the Vikings with three goals each. Reinert also had an assist. Francesca Lindelow had two goals and one assist while Natalie Chiapetta and Anna Davis each had one goal. Liz Botto had one assist.
Upper Merion goalie Jordan Cabahug-Almonte was credited with 12 saves on 21 shots.

SAUCON VALLEY 12, QUAKERTOWN 4
Kayla Donnelly led the Panthers with two goals and one assist. Olivia Maseloff and Taylor Kishbaugh each had one goal while Sarah Townsend had an assist.
