Devon Dietzel and Corrine Kenney accounted for South’s only goals when the Titans took on a powerful Episcopal squad in non-league action Friday.
South goalie Erin Putnam was credited with 14 saves in a contest that saw Episcopal open up a 7-1 halftime lead but then scored just three goals in the second half.
“We played an incredible defensive team game today,” coach Janique Craig said. “The defense worked as one solid unit and made Episcopal work for each one of their goals.
“Episcopal pressed all over the ball, but our team stayed poised while transitioning the ball from defense to offense. We are very proud of the girls’ efforts and came out as a better team today.”

RADNOR 11, NORTH PENN 8
The Maidens hung tough against highly regarded Radnor on the Red Raiders’ home field. Radnor led 3-1 at halftime and went on to open up a 9-2 lead only to watch the Maidens come roaring back to make it a one-goal game. Radnor led by just two with three minutes remaining (10-8).
“We had the momentum in the second half, but they got the draw control and went into a stall and ended up scoring with 23 seconds left,” coach Jami Wilus Behm said.
Behm had nothing but good things to say about her team’s performance.
“I think today we just really worked together,” the Maidens’ coach said. “Not one player is going to beat a team like Radnor or any of those top teams.
“We swung the ball really well, our defenders didn’t try to carry the ball, and I think we just used each other. Once we scored a goal or two, it seemed like everyone got the confidence that if you go to goal hard and if you make the right pass, there were things open.”
Senior Ashley Durham had the hat trick to lead the Maidens while Emily Schulze and Sydney Lear each added two goals. Chloe Novak had one goal and seven draw controls, and sophomore goalie Michelle Dyck was credited with 12 saves.”
“We were hustling all over the place,” Behm said. “It was like an old North Penn team that I coached – the girls that just hustled and had a lot of grit and had a lot of heart.
“That’s how we played today, which is typical of North Penn’s style. It was nice to see that come back.”
The Maidens saw their record drop to 1-2 on the young season, but for a young Maidens’ squad, this felt like a loss only on the scoreboard.
“As a team, I think we grew up a lot today,” Behm said. “At the end of the game we said – you should hate losing more than you like winning, but even with this loss, it definitely showed us what we’re capable of doing.
“Radnor is not going to take it easy on you. They had all their starters there, and they were ready to play. We fought for ground balls, we won a lot of draw controls and our goalie came up with a lot of big saves.”
North Penn     1          7-8
Radnor            3          8-11

LOWER MORELAND 12, NORRISTOWN 10
Natalie Mitchell led the Eagles with four goals while Stephanie Dimitry, Emma Hagel and Keifonna Ferguson each scored two goals.
