Girls
COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 10, NORTH PENN 7
The Indians locked up a share of second place in the SOL National Conference standings with Wednesday’s important win over the Maidens.
"Obviously, we are really proud of the girls," coach Krista Dayton-Ventresca said. "They work hard - we push them to work hard, but we know that every team works hard, so it is rewarding to come out on top in a game against one of our league competitors.
"The girls knew our league was jammed up for second place since we lost to CB West, who lost to North Penn, and they knew they needed to beat North Penn. Our girls gave a sustained effort today, and it was what they needed for the win."
Devon Mela had a big game for the Indians, contributing four goals and an assist to finish with five points. Marina Schreiner added two goals, and Anna Lehman had a goal and assist. Katy Lehman, Claire Jarema and Taylor Campbell each added one goal.
"We decided our keys to the game were to handle North Penn's aggressive approach by challenging the cage hard and often as well to dictate play on the defensive end by forcing them into our double teams," Dayton-Ventresca said. "I think the girls executed both of those things well.
"Devon Mela has been our answer all year, and she came up big again today. And our defense, led all year by Kate Keller, held North Penn's balanced attack to only seven goals. I'd say that's pretty good."
For the Maidens, Ashley Durham had a hat trick, Juliana Hill had two goals, and Kaitlin Suzuki and Sydney Lear had one goal each.
Rock North goalie Margaret D’Auria was credited with eight saves in a winning effort.
The Indians closed out league play with a 7-2 record - tied with Central Bucks West - while the Maidens are 6-3.
"It has been a pleasure to see them grow together as a team, especially since we field five seniors and five freshmen with a few sophomores and juniors thrown in," Dayton-Ventresca said. "They are quality young women, and Bern, Kim and I are lucky. We look forward to making a go of it in playoffs."

HATBORO-HORSHAM 19, SPRINGFIELD (MONTCO) 6
The Hatters closed out a perfect American Conference season with Wednesday night’s win over the Spartans. Rachel Rausa (five goals, one assist) had a six-point night to lead the Hatters. Carley Daley had a hand in four goals, scoring two and assisting on two others. Colby Eldridge added a hat trick, and Kaitlyn Wallace also had a three-point night with one goal and two assists. Sydney Rausa (two goals), Annette DeSipio (one goal, one assist) and Casey Swezey (one goal, one assist) each had two-point nights. Maria Guerra had one goal.

CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 16, PENNRIDGE 13
The Titans opened up a 10-5 halftime lead, but the Lady Rams – who celebrated Senior Night – didn’t go down quietly, outscoring the Titans 8-6 in the second half.
“We played well and had a nice lead in the first half,” South coach Janique Craig said. “In the second half, we played content, and we were rushing our shots when we had the lead.
“Pennridge did a nice job in the second half with their transition game and worked hard right up until the end.”
The two teams were deadlocked 1-1 when the Titans reeled off four straight goals to go on top 5-1.

The two teams were on the receiving end of eight yellow cards in the aggressively played contest – the Lady Rams received four in the first half and one in the second and found themselves a player down for the final 30 minutes of the game. Still, they continued to battle.
“Jordan Rimmer had a fabulous shot with only two seconds remaining in the first half, which I think really pumped the team up during halftime,” Pennridge coach Brieann Wolfe said.
Maddie Dachowski scored 38 seconds into the second half, and the Lady Rams were clearly not going to go away.
“We did great transitioning and slides on defense, especially playing down a player,” Wolfe said. “Maddie Dachowski had a great game on attack and made great plays in the mid.
“Jackie Stevens and Sam Ryder also stepped it up in the mid.”
Courtney Dietzel (four goals, one assist) and Sarah Poli (three goals, two assists) both had five-point games to lead the Titans. Corrine Kenney added a hat trick while Kelly Senour and Krysta Reading both had two goals and one assist. Emily Cliggett had one goal and one assist. The Colonials closed out league play with their biggest win of the season on Wednesday.

“My team finally played like they are capable of playing, and I think Abington wasn’t expecting such a hard fought game,” PW coach Ellen Reilly said. “It was a back and forth game.

Dresnin also had four goals and two assists while teammate Kirsten Monte had seven goals. Maddie Berman had three goals and one assist while Phoebe Flint and Morgan Nagy both had two goals and one assist. Aurora Mills added one goal to close out the scoring.
“Monica and Kirsten led the way, and my other players made it count when they had their opportunity,” Reilly said. “My seniors on defense communicated and really worked hard.”
The Colonials took a 9-7 lead into halftime.
“In the second half, Abington fought back and took the lead halfway through,” Reilly said. “It continued back and forth with Abington leading by two.
“We stayed in the game with determination and hustle. With seven minutes to go, we tied the game, and with four minutes left took the lead to stay. The girls played smart on offense with time running out, holding the ball for the last 1:30. I am really proud of them.”
For the Ghosts, Jeannie Van Buren and Mikki Raymond (one assist) led the way with four goals each. Sam McGee (one assist) and Emma Garg both finished with hat tricks. Casey McAllister and Katarina Thallner each added single goals.
