Girls Soccer

CB WEST 2, BENSALEM 0
The Bucks (2-0) got a goal from senior midfielder Carmen Telesco four minutes into their non-conference matchup with an assist from senior forward Shae MacCarty.
In the second half, MacCarty tallied an insurance goal, assisted by Sam Lubin.
West head coach Jorge Rodriguez credited Telesco with a solid all-around performance, along with senior Devon Dickinson.
Senior goalkeeper Grace Bendon made five saves in getting the shutout victory.
"(Bendon) hasn't been tested a whole lot the first two games, but when she was, she has come up big," Rodriguez said. "She is a very good goalkeeper."
Like Bendon, the rest of the team also weathered back-to-back games well to open the season.
"We've been very fortunate with a big roster: I have 13 seniors, and because we have that many seniors, we decided to keep a lot of underclassmen to prepare them for next year, when all these seniors are gone," Rodriguez said. "We've been able to rotate quite a lot of players in the last two games, so we didn't have too many people playing too many minutes, where we would risk any injury or fatigue, but it looks as if everyone is contributing enough that we may have a deep bench."
The Bucks will open their SOL Continental schedule Thursday afternoon at Quakertown. The Owls will open their SOL National schedule Wednesday afternoon at Neshaminy.
Bensalem 0-0 0
CB West 1-1 2

CUMBERLAND VALLEY 4, NESHAMINY 3
Neshaminy sophomore forward Alyssa Tobin scored her second goal of the game with 18:43 left on junior midfielder Alyssa Antonelly's second assist of the contest to forge the last deadlock in the season opener Saturday.
But the visiting Eagles scored the game winner nearly 5 minutes later and handed Neshaminy, the undefeated PIAA Class AAA champion last season, its first loss since 2012.
Antonelly also assisted on a first-half goal at 28:08 by junior forward Gabby Farrell. Tobin also had scored the first-half marker at 19:06 with an assist from Riley Nyhus.
Despite the nonleague loss in the head coaching debut of Chelsea Deeter, a 2006 Neshaminy graduate, she credited junior Julia Andreozzi and sophomore Maggie Daeche, a team captain, for strong defensive efforts.
Neshaminy will open its SOL National schedule Wednesday afternoon hosting Bensalem.
Cumberland Valley 3-1 4
Neshaminy 2-1 3

CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 1, WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 0
Junior forward Emma Loving scored the only with about 3 minutes left in the first overtime Saturday afternoon to lift the Patriots to a season-opening victory. Hannah Zach assisted on Loving's goal.
East junior Emily Horn turned in a strong performance as a midfielder, and junior Paige Weiss played well on defense, helping senior goalkeeper Lauren Burrell earn the shutout.
The Patriots open their SOL Continental schedule Wednesday afternoon at Pennridge before hosting North Penn on Friday.
WC Rustin 0-0-0 0
CB East 0-0-1 1

METHACTON 2, SOUDERTON 1
Junior Kylie Heath scored the Indians' lone goal Saturday in the season opener.
Overall, Souderton head coach Chris Felber was encouraged by the entire team's play, including the offense, which outshot the Warriors, 20-4.
"Everyone played well," Felber said. "A couple of mistakes cost us the result. While the result was disappointing, it was a good first performance, something to build from."
The Indians open their SOL Continental schedule Wednesday afternoon at Hatboro-Horsham before hosting Quakertown (time changed to 3:15 p.m., according to Souderton's district web site) on Friday afternoon.
