HATBORO-HORSHAM 5, AVON GROVE 0
Jordan Plummer and Lauren Brophy each tallied twice as the Lady Hatters defeated Avon Grove 5-0 Friday afternoon.
With the win, the Hatters kept themselves as strong candidates for an at-large bid to districts
"We beat Upper Dublin, who won their division, tied Unionville 0-0, and dominated Avon Grove today," explained Hatters coach Ben Winderman.  "It's tough because there are many deserving teams - either way I am so proud of the progress our players made this season; right now they're playing like a playoff squad, so I hope they get the opportunity to practice on Monday and travel come Tuesday."
Also scoring for H-H was senior Annette Desipio who Winderman described as "relentless."
Defensively, the Hatters got their predictably strong performances from Kelly Griffin, Emily Sheehan, Maggie Leisch, and Mikaela Maolifiy.
"Meekah (Mikaela) also chipped in with two beautiful assists," said Winderman.  "She's been unbelievable this year. She's a complete player, and all of her teammates respect her style and approach.  She typically draws our opponents most dangerous attacker and still contributes with ingenuity and grit."
Freshman Miranda Royds and Senior Brianna Cummins combined for the Hatters shutout in goal as each stopped Avon Grove attackers from point blank range.  Anna and Marissa Portelli linked with Rachel Kaplan, Caitlin Smith, and Maddy McNutt in the midfield too and had the visitors continuously chasing the ball.
"We connected the dots today and enjoyed soccer on our beautiful grass fields," smiled Winderman."  We have had some tough weeks this season and our kids continuously sharpened their fangs.  We had to play without Emily Butler today (out with concussion), and we're all hoping she's back for the next match."
