“Great Valley is a real good team who played well and came in with a good record. We were fortunate to hold them off.”

COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 2, CONWELL EGAN 1
The Indians brought a welcome end to a three-game skid with Saturday’s non-league win.
“After a tough run of games, it was nice to get a win today,” coach Gavin Flannigan said. “We controlled possession for the most of the game, and I thought our ball movement was excellent at times in the first half.”
The Indians got on the board late in the first half when Caroline Erlandson found the back of the net.
“Caroline scored a nice header off a corner kick from Chloe Hill,” Flannigan said. “Early in the second half we scored again.
“Brooke Strobel finished a nice team move off by finding the bottom corner.”
Heather McLaughlin had the assist.
“We’ve had a number of girls coming back from injury,” Flannigan said. “It was great to give them good minutes today and go deeper into our roster.”
Grace Needham and Sarah Khantzian each had three saves in goal.
Council Rock North (4-5, 2-4 SOL) will take on archrival Council Rock South on Tuesday.

CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 2, VILLA JOSEPH MARIE 0
The Patriots notched a shutout win over an always-tough Jems squad, and listening to coach Paul Eisold tell it, Saturday’s victory couldn’t have come at a better time.
“This was a result we needed to have, and we continue to improve each game,” the Patriots’ coach said. “Villa is always a difficult game and continue to challenge us.”
The Patriots broke a scoreless tie at the 55-minute mark on a goal by Emma Martin (Elise Duffy assist).
“Elise played a ball back about 13 yards across the goal, and Emma turned and finished a terrific ball,” Eisold said.
With under four minutes remaining, Gabby Learn converted a penalty kick for the 2-0 final. The Patriots were awarded the PK after a scrum in front of the Villa Joe net that saw the Jems called for a handball.
Goalie Mary Duffy recorded the shutout but left the field due to injury. Kiera Donnelly closed out the game in the net.
“It was nice to see – we fought very hard and were able to capitalize at key moments,” Eisold said.
The Patriots’ coach credited the defense of Ashley Balderson, Ericka Ives, Anna Bound and Olivia Portner for consistently controlling the back line.
The win is a confidence booster for the Patriots heading into Monday’s non-league game against an Abington squad that has rolled to seven wins in as many games.
“(It’s) a much-anticipated game to see where we stand not only in the Continental but in the SOL,” Eisold said. “They have speed up top and are good defensively.”
Central Bucks East (3-4-1, 2-3-1 SOL) will travel to Abington Monday for the 7 p.m. non-league contest.

SOUDERTON 4, LANSDALE CATHOLIC 0
(Submitted by Souderton soccer)
Souderton came out strong in the first half, controlling the midfield and possessing from the start. Ten minutes into the half senior Campbell Power found sophomore Hannah Alderfer in space on the wing. Alderfer cut inside to create space for herself and unleashed a well-placed shot into the top corner of the far post to put Souderton up 1-0.
Power was able to create for her team once again with about ten minutes left in the half. A low driven cross found Senior Erin O'Keefe, who met the cross well with a one-time shot on frame. LC's goalkeeper was able to make a quick reaction save, but the rebound came off her hands back to O'Keefe, who did well to stay involved in the play and nodded home the finish to put Souderton up 2-0. Souderton showed no signs of letting up in the first half, buoyed by a strong performance from Power, who had five of the team's ten first-half shots and two assists.
After the half, Souderton looked a bit sluggish. Lansdale Catholic was able to create some chances from some sloppy possession from Souderton. After a few chances from LC, Souderton was able to return to their strong first-half form and regain control of the match. With six minutes left in the game, sophomore Taylor Yoder found Power just outside the 18. Power struck the ball low and hard to the corner, and a slight deflection took it just out of the keeper's reach into the far corner.
Souderton continued to apply the pressure, and Yoder was able to tally another assist with a smart cross to Grace Kelly who was able to knock the ball in the net with her chest for a close-range finish.
Souderton (4-1-2, 2-1-2 SOL) will be on the road at Quakertown on Tuesday.
Souderton             2-2   4
Lansdale Catholic   0-0   0

SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP 4, ST. HUBERT’S 0
The Spartans opened up a 1-0 halftime lead and added three more goals after the intermission in Saturday’s shutout win.
“We really played the ball to feet, and we really kept possession of the ball,” coach Suzette Wolf said. “The game started off really slow for both teams. Once we figured out we had a lot of space, we had room to carry the ball, we had room to move the ball to each other, and then we sort of took ownership of the game.
“We got confidence, and we felt comfortable enough to have a little patience for a chance, not be frantic. We exploited some of their weaknesses and that was in our favor.”
Fifteen minutes into the opening half, Samantha Wynne headed a Hannah Potocki cross into the net, and the Spartans had a lead they would not lose. Ally White made it a 2-0 game early in the second half, using a Riley Serroni assist. Freshman Emily Smith found the net 15 minutes later with an assist from Emily Cooney. The Spartans had their final margin of victory after Cooney (Meghan Nelson assist) scored with a minute remaining.
Wolf lauded the play of Hannah Potocki in the win.
“She always plays so well,” the Spartans’ coach said. “She actually missed a penalty kick, but she redeemed herself.
“She came back and took a direct kick and put it right on Sam Wynne’s head so she could put it in the net. She is so reliable. She continuously plays her heart out.”
Springfield Township (2-6, 1-5 SOL) will host Upper Dublin on Tuesday.
St. Hubert’s               0-0   0
Springfield Township  1-3   4
