LEWISBURG Upper Moreland’s Kaylee Hermann ended her career on a high note.

The senior finished fourth in diving at Saturday’s conclusion of the PIAA Class 2A swimming championships, held at Kinney Natatorium at Bucknell University.

Hermann posted a score of 366.40 points for the highest state finish of her career.

“I felt a lot better this time than last time I was here,” she said. “Even though I didn’t have (former teammate) Colleen (Rodrigues) to push me I still felt that knowing I prepared for this meet all season gave me confidence.

“I found the competitor in myself to actually fight against myself rather than have to rely on someone else to push me.”

Hermann was the District One runner-up to Katie Caputo of Gwynedd Mercy, who finished sixth at the state meet.

“It was a little disappointing to not win at districts but I still placed high enough to make it to states and that was all I was really worried about,” she said.

Springfield senior Ben Van Meter finished his high school swim career with a seventh place finish in the 500 freestyle (4:47.96).

Teammate Jake Hennegan finished 26th in the 500 freestyle (5:02.50).

For the Springfield girls, Trinity Schmidt was seventh in the 500 freestyle (5:15.38), Maura Fluehr finished ninth in the 100 freestyle (52.46), Alison Currie took 11th in the 100 breaststroke (1:07.38) and Megan Leibfreid just missed the consolation heat of the 100 backstroke, taking 17th (1:00.02).
