SOL Cross Country Wrap - 09-24-2011

Below are some of the results for SOL teams from this weekend’s events. Results from Saturday’s Council Rock North Invitational will be added when they are available.

The Pennsbury girls’ team captured first place in the prestigious 5th Annual PIAA Foundation Cross Country Invitational with 72 points. Falcon senior Sara Sargent won the individual title with a time of 19:07. Senior Ann Herman finished fifth with a time of 19:43 while teammates Erica Gray and Elizabeth Wedekind finished 15th and 16th with times of 20:30 and 20:42 respectively. Freshman Erin O’Connell finished 39th with a time of 21:29, and Stephanie Radzinski was 42nd with a time of 21:34.

Central Bucks East finished fifth in team competition with 221 points while Council Rock North was ninth (281) and Pennridge finished 10th (319 points). William Tennent was 15th (432 points), Souderton was 24th (612) and Hatboro-Horsham was 28th (752). Pennridge senior Tori Gerlach finished fourth with a time of 19:34. The times of both Sargent and Gerlach met the national silver standard.  Pennridge junior Caitlyn Sheva finished 12th with a time of 20:15, Council Rock North junior Kate Scott was 14th with a time of 20:28. Council Rock North sophomore Kaelyn Heinicke was 20th with a time of 20:59, and Central Bucks East sophomore Louise Huuki rounded out the top 25 with a time of 21:03. Also finishing in the top 100 were Central Bucks East sophomore Meaghan Willcoxen (21:50), Central Bucks East senior Kara Shen (50th, 21:50), Central Bucks East sophomore Sarah Romanus (21:51), Central Bucks East junior Kendall Savage (21:55), Hatboro-Horsham junior Megan Schnieder (21:56), William Tennent freshman Karlie Brasch (22:00), Central Bucks East junior Sarah Latch (22:02), Souderton senior Melanie Tramontina (22:12), Council Rock North senior Ashlin Kimmel (22:16), Pennridge senior Allie Desko (22:18), Central Bucks East senior Jacqueline Patterson (22:21), William Tennent freshman Jenn Rutkowsky (22:30), William Tennent senior Katie Martin (22:48) and William Tennent sophomore Judy Mabone (22:50). Hatboro-Horsham senior Sam Hibbs won the individual title in the 5th Annual PIAA Foundation Cross Country Invitational in Hershey with a time of 16:34. Pennsbury’s Connor Harriman finished second with a time of 16:40, and Hatboro-Horsham’s Conner Quinn was third with a time of 16:41. Upper Moreland’s Drew Magaha rounded out the top five with a time of 16:43. Also finishing in the top 10 was Central Bucks East’s Alex Kane, who was ninth with a time of 17:03. Central Bucks East junior Alec Brand finished 22nd with a time of 17:30. Also finishing in the top 100 were Pennsbury sophomore Alek Sauer (18:29, Pennsbury junior Kevin Malloy (18:30), Central Bucks East junior Luke Ryan (18:34), Pennsbury junior Jon Malloy (18:44), Pennsbury’s Tom Martin (18:47), Central Bucks East senior Jake Nemeroff (18:53), Pennsbury sophomore Liam O’Connell (18:54, Central Bucks East junior Dylan James (18:56, Hatboro-Horsham junior Pat Clark (18:58) and Hatboro-Horsham’s Ray Zhao (19:10).

Central Bucks East was the top SOL team finisher, placing sixth out of 40 teams with 251 points. Pennsbury was seventh with 271 points, and Hatboro-Horsham was 11th with 305 points. The North Penn girls’ squad finished fifth in the 27-team large school division at the Six Flags Wild Safari Cross Country Invitational in Six Flags, N.J. The Maidens were the only Pennsylvania school in the Varsity A division. Senior Meghan McGovern finished second overall, finishing with a time of 17:56. Melanie Vlasic finished 27th with a time of 20:21 while Janki Patel was 31st with a time of 20:30. Colleen McGovern was 44th (20:48) and Jenna Reimer finished 52nd with a time of 21:02. Also finishing in the top 100 were Brianne Mengini (21:37) and Priya Kikani (21:46). 

Upper Dublin senior Sarah Holl took first place with a time of 19:25.76 in the Girls Champion division of the 19th Annual Carlisle High School Invitational. Her time met the national silver standard. Upper Dublin finished second overall with 117 points behind only Palmyra (88). Upper Dublin’s Laura Wohlgemuth finished 28th (21:08.16) and Marissa Holl was 29th (21:08.65). Central Bucks South finished 13th in the Boys Puma Challenge division of the 19th Annual Carlisle High School Invitational with 391 points while Abington was 16th (431). William Tennent finished 20th (507) and Upper Dublin was 29th (617). Upper Dublin junior Francis Ferruzzi finished seventh with a time of 16:21.11, which met the national silver standard. Abington’s Jabari Freeman finished 42nd with a time of 17:07.39, and his teammate, John Hartsough was 46th with a time of 17:11.64. Central Bucks South’s Ryan Dickson was 49th with a time of 17:13.48, and teammate Stephen Chappell was 56th (17:21.00). Upper Merion senior Amber McAteer captured the individual title of the small school division of Saturday’s Bulldog Invitational-Rose Tree with a time of 20:22.7. The Vikings finished fourth in the eight-team division with 98 points. Also finishing in the top 25 for the Vikings was Coleen Butler, who finished eighth with a time of 22:00.8. The Central Bucks West girls’ team captured the title in the seven-team large school division of the Bulldog Invitational-Rose Tree with 41 points. Wissahickon finished third with 71 points while Plymouth Whitemarsh finished fifth with 122 points. The Bucks placed three runners in the top 10, led by Meghan Iatarola’s third place finish with a time of 19:53.1. Gretchen Krause finished fourth with a time of 20:02.8 while Bryn-Erin Kerr was ninth with a time of 21:05.9. Wissahickon’s Jessica Quensenberry was fifth with a time of 20:18.8. Rounding out the top 25 were Wissahickon’s Marissa Fritz (12th, 21:27.6), Central Bucks West’s Keelan McDonald (13th, 22:41.4), Central Bucks West’s Katie Vaughn (14th, 21:34.9), Wissahickon’s Jannine Brandt (14th, 21:36.4), Central Bucks West’s Julie Dawson (15th, 21:37.5), Plymouth Whitemarsh’s Jackie Mazer (16th, 21:39.6), Wissahickon’s Caroline Mitchell (21st, 21:50.5), PW’s Yasmeen Wermers (22nd, 21:53.2) and PW’s Kyra Hanlon (23rd, 21:55.4).  Wissahickon’s Sam Brooks finished fourth with a time of 17:13.0 in the large school division of the Bulldog Invitational-Rose Tree. Plymouth Whitemarsh’s Cassidy Silverthorn finished eighth with a time of 17:18.2. Wissahickon’s Tristan Marcelis was ninth with a time of 17:18.5. Also finishing in the top 25 were PW’s Dan Shalala, who finished 15th with a time of 17:51.0. The Trojans finished third in the 11-team meet with 64 points while PW was fourth with 115 points. The Upper Merion boys’ team finished fifth with 110 points in the eight-team small school varsity division of the Bulldog Invitational-Rose Tree. Finishing in the top 25 were Nick Tornambe, who finished seventh with a time of 17:59.2. Teammate Auctin Cooper finished eighth with a time of 18:01.0 while Matt Harner finished 23rd with a time of 19:07.3.
