#14 HARRY S TRUMAN 3, #19 CONESTOGA 1(Class AA)
Michael Roarty scored a pair of goals – the first late in the second period and the second late in the third – to break a 1-1 tie and propel the Tigers to the hard fought win at Grundy Arena in a Flyers Cup play-in game on Monday night.
Conestoga took an early 1-0 lead when Nick Falcone (Will Schnorr assist) found the net 8:18 into the contest. Three minutes later, Ross Koenig scored an unassisted goal to knot things up.
That 1-1 tie stood until 14:49 elapsed in the second period when Roarty turned a William Findlay pass into a goal that sent the Tigers into the final period with a 2-1 lead.
Roarty tacked on an insurance goal 14:59 into the third period for the 3-1 final, using a Steve Avellino assist.
The Tigers held a lopsided 42-18 advantage in shots, but Pioneer goalie Malcolm Roeder kept his team in it with a 39-save effort. Truman’s Kyle Huth turned away 17 shots in a winning effort in goal.
Truman will face third-seeded Central Bucks West in a first round game on Wednesday night at Hatfield Ice (9 pm).
