PENNRIDGE 49, NORRISTOWN 20

Jagger Hartshorn.

It’s a name that might not have been familiar to area football fans heading into the season. That changed in a hurry on Saturday when the senior quarterback – who moved to the area from Georgia – put his name in the school record books in his debut behind center.

Hartshorn tied a school record with five rushing touchdowns – all in the first half.  The tone was effectively set on his first carry from scrimmage for 42 yards. He capped the driving by taking it in from six yards out, and Hartshorn and his Ram teammates were off and running. By the time the first quarter had ended, the senior QB had three touchdowns on runs of six, 16 and 26 yards, propelling the Rams to a 21-6 lead.

Josh Pinkney’s 25-yard touchdown run put the Rams on top 28-6, and then it was Hartshorn taking it in from 56 yards out to make it a 35-6 game. The Eagles interrupted the Rams’ run with a touchdown of their own, but Hartshorn got that score back with a 28-yard TD run. Austin Herrlinger’s rushing TD with time winding down in the second quarter sent the Rams into halftime with a 49-14 lead.

Hartshorn finished the day with 208 yards.

Pennridge (1-0) will host Neshaminy next Friday in an all-SOL non-league showdown.
