Council Rock North defeated CB East in Saturday’s SOL opener for both squads.

COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 26, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 21
The visiting Indians opened up a 26-7 third quarter lead and then withstood a furious Patriots comeback for the gutsys win in Saturday’s SOL opener. The loss was the first of the season for the Patriots after three straight non-league wins.
Senior quarterback Brandon McIlwain stole the spotlight, finishing with over 300 yards of total offense. He ran for two scores and threw for two more – both to Tyler Nowmos.
The Patriots struck first on a six-yard touchdown run by Alex Gibson, but McIlwain answered with a 15-yard TD run, and the two-point conversion gave the Indians an 8-7 lead after one quarter. McIlwain’s touchdown marked the beginning of a 26-0 North run.
Although the Patriots made things interesting with two touchdowns of their own to pull to within five, the Indians’ defense – which came up with a key fumble recovery late in the game - held when it mattered most.
Council Rock North (2-2, 1-0 SOL) will host William Tennent next Saturday (2 p.m.), and Central Bucks East (3-1, 0-1) will be on the road at Council Rock South on Friday night.
