National Conference

PENNSBURY 3, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 1 (25-18, 23-25, 25-14, 25-15)
The Golden Hawks rallied to win the second set, but the Falcons won the next two to win the match.
“My girls played with heart and emotion,” coach Kelly Korn said. “I’m so proud of their efforts against Pennsbury tonight.”
Coach Michael Falter had high praise for the Golden Hawks.
"Council Rock South definitely came to play," the Falcons' coach said. "Just like Tennent, they played amazing defense and kept the ball in play. As a result, that led to a lot of unforced errors on our part.
"In my opinion, we came out a little flat and didn't really focus on the little things that we need to. I told the girls that playing for a very strong program like Pennsbury means that every team is going to bring their 'A' game every time they step onto the court. Hopefully, as a team, we learned that every league match is important."
Senior Cara Reilly led the Falcons with 12 kills while junior Lauren Branfield had 10 kills. Junior Brandi Steiner added nine kills. Taylor McCartney (five kills) and Ava Patterson (four kills) also contributed. Patterson led the Falcons' service game with six aces, and teammates Kelsey Ongradi and McCartney each had three aces.
"Lauren Bransfield and Brandi Steiner, both first-year starters in the middle, really worked hard the last two games and were the difference in my opinion," Falter said.
Rock South senior libero led the defense with 23 digs. Senior outside hitter Katie Quinn had 10 kills and three aces, and junior middle hitter Donna Spiteri had six kills, three aces and two blocks.

WILLIAM TENNENT 3, BENSALEM 0 (25-5, 25-12, 25-16)
After falling just short in back-to-back nailbiters against Council Rock North and Pennsbury, the Panthers rolled to a sweep of the Owls. Jaime Bonner, Shea Conway and Chelsea Gallagher had six kills each to lead the Panthers. Amber Wood added four kills, and Maddie Richard had five aces.
