SOL Girls' Volleyball Wrap (10-14-13)

PENNRIDGE 3, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 0 (25-22, 26-24, 26-24)
The suddenly streaking Rams knocked the Patriots from the ranks of the undefeated in Continental Conference play, earning a hard fought sweep on East’s home court. The win was the fifth in a row for the Rams, who improved to 7-4 in league play.
Steph Judkins had a big night at the net, contributing 15 kills to go along with nine digs. Victoria Jones added nine kills. Setters Meghan Keefe and Julia Donnelly combined for 20 assists and 32 digs. Kara Weaver led the defense with 11 digs.

The Patriots were led by Kelly Guillen with seven kills while Bridget Terrel and Hannah Lunak each added five. Erin Lane led the defense with nine digs while Rachel Clow had eight and Lunak, seven. Lauren Helveston handed out 28 assists.

CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 3, NORTH PENN 0 (25-12, 25-9, 25-14)
Candace Rupert led a balanced West attack with six kills, two aces and two blocks. Alicia West added five kills, four aces and eight digs. Kelly McKinstry had six aces, three kills, 16 assists and 10 digs, and Ashley Juliano and Sarah Phillips each had three kills.

CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 3, SOUDERTON 0 (13-25, 18-25, 17-25)
Sophomore Savannah Bostwick led the Indians’ defense with 24 digs while setter Cori Watson handed out 10 assists. Alycia Beebe had four kills.

ABINGTON 3, UPPER DUBLIN 1 (23-25, 25-19, 25-23, 25-21)
Sophomore Claire Glassman had a big day for the Ghosts, contributing 15 kills, three blocks, two aces and 14 digs. Junior Carley Cooper added two blocks, nine kills, two aces and 22 digs. Sophomore setter Emma Garg had 26 assists, 15 digs, one kill and one ace. Sophomore Jamie Kidd led the defense with 28 digs while junior Tara Santora had nine digs.
For the Flying Cardinals, junior Melanie Phifer had five kills, one block, 15 digs and four aces. Senior Mary DeCamera had eight kills, four digs and two aces, and junior Taylor Stek added seven kills, seven digs and three aces. Senior setter Taylor D’Ginto had 22 assists, one kill, one block, three digs and two aces.

HATBORO-HORSHAM 3, PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 0 (25-16, 25-19, 25-21)

Hatboro-Horsham locked up second place in the American Conference standings with Monday’s win. The Hatters had a strong offensive night. Junior Sam Jones led the way with 15 kills, sophomore Cassidy Quattro had 14 kills, junior Dymond Black had six kills, and junior Alexa Kennedy added four kills.  Black dominated the net with five blocks and Jones added two more.  Jones and Quattro each had two serving aces.  Quattro served 14 points, and junior Candyce Riley served ten. Riley and Jones led the defense with eight digs each.  Senior Hannah Steiger dished out 32 assists. 

UPPER MERION 3, NORRISTOWN 0 (25-7, 25-13, 25-11)
The Vikings upped their record to 18-0 with Monday’s win. Emily’s Shannon 22 digs and three aces, Melanie Ingram’s 12 kills and five aces, Ashley Shannon’s 20 assists, and Kailyn McNamee’s 20 digs keyed the victory. Eryn Brady and Niki Carpenter each had three blocks and five kills.

COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3, NESHAMINY 0 (27-25, 25-22, 25-17)
The Redskins jumped out to a 17-10 lead in game one, but could not hold on as the Indians rallied for the hard-fought win.
“After Council Rock North’s second timeout, our youth showed, and we struggled under pressure,” said Neshaminy coach Kate Livingstone. “We just couldn’t get away from their good servers.”
The Redskins were led by Danielle Catapano (16 assists, 11 digs, two aces). Miranda Foster had six kills, two blocks and two aces. Mackenzie Maher had five blocks and two kills. Molly MacDonald added 14 digs. Kassie Ockford had 10 digs, two aces and two kills. Jillian Willis added seven digs, a kill and a block.

WILLIAM TENNENT 3, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 0 (25-9, 25-14, 25-18)
Chelsea Gallagher led the Panthers with 13 kills and seven digs, and Jaime Bonner added 12 kills. Amber Wood had seven blocks, and CC Weir led the defense with 11 digs. Sophomore setter Alex Koppany had 34 assists and four aces.
