SOL Girls' Volleyball Wrap (10-5-17)

Check out the results for SOL girls’ volleyball teams in action Thursday.

COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 3, WILLIAM TENNENT 1 (25-13, 25-21, 22-25, 25-14)
Junior libero Bria DeSaro reached a milestone in the Golden Hawks win over the Panthers, recording the 1,000th dig of her high school career.
“Bria started her career at South as a libero and moved to setting last year as a sophomore,” coach John Wright said. “It didn’t take the coaching staff long to realize that she was far more valuable to the team as a libero, so we asked her to move back to libero, and without hesitation, she agreed.
“We were, and still are, very middle-hitter dependent when it comes to our offense. That can’t happen without good passing. Bria has been a standout back there for three years. She makes our offense run.”
Leading the Golden Hawks in Thursday’s win were senior middle hitter Hannah Sullivan (nine kills, eight blocks), junior outside hitter Celina Varian (five kills, 30 digs) and senior setter Hannah Devlin (19 assists).
For the Panthers, Nicole Long contributed seven kills and 12 digs. Shaina Gatton had 10 kills and eight digs, and Sara Ingham had eight kills and eight blocks. Stephanie Woolston led the back row with 20 digs, and Kelly Scipione had 22 assists.
