SOL Girls' Volleyball Wrap (10-6-22)

SOL National

COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 3, PENNSBURY 2 (25-19, 25-20, 21-25, 23-25, 15-11)
The Golden Hawks opened up a 2-0 lead only to see the Falcons battle back to win the next two sets. Rock South edged the Falcons in the winner-take-all fifth set to remain undefeated in conference play.
Leading the Golden Hawks at the net were Olivia DeSaro (9 kills, 2 digs, 1 ace), Edan Kauer (8 kills, 5 aces, 13 digs) and Nala Kauer (7 kills, 6 digs). Setter Ashlyn Dinan had 24 assists and seven digs while Gina Caraccio had 11 assists and three digs. Lindsey Korn led the defense with 16 digs and one ace. Also contributing were Shani Sun (5 kills, 4 digs, 1 block), Gracie DeSaro (3 kills, 1 block), Rachael Buchnik (2 kills, 2 blocks), Cadence Palmer (7 digs) and Cassidy Melnick (4 digs, 6 aces).

Kiersten Adair led the Falcons with 13 kills. Kiera Rogan contributed with 10 kills. The middles came up strong at the net, Ella Visco had five kills and two aces and Claire MacElroy contributed with 6 kills.  Also contributing for the Falcons, Ainsley Dysart (3 kills), Annika Foundros (2 kills), Jocelyn Fang (2 kills), Natalie Johnson (1 kill). Stephanie Adamousky had a strong serving game and two aces.
Faith Szumagala (1 kill, 4 aces, 15 assists) and Caroline Croteau (1 kill, 2 aces, 18 assists) shared setting duties.  Sami Love led the defense as Libero and had one ace. 
Council Rock South (13-2, 9-0 SOL) will host Mount St. Joseph in a non-league match on Monday. Pennsubry (10-2, 7-2)
will travel to Plymouth Whitemarsh Saturday for a tri-match against Plymouth Whitemarsh and North Penn.

BENSALEM 3, HARRY S TRUMAN 0 (25-22, 25-11, 25-16)
The Owls notched a collective team win on Thursday, and the unselfishness of the players was underscored by Rylee Haer, who played a new position and led the team with six aces and also contributed two kills.
“I’m very proud of this group of girls for pulling this win together today,” coach Violet DiMichele said. “Everyone played a huge role in today’s game. 
“Rylee did our team a huge favor playing a new position today, and she did not disappoint.”
Talia DiMichele (8 assists, 5 aces) and Jenna Lange (6 assists, 2 kills) shared setting duties. Gunjan Patel led the attack with five kills while Ashley Tarr added four kills and two aces.
Bensalem (7-8, 3-6 SOL) will travel to Great Valley for a non-league match Friday, and Harry S Truman (0-9, 0-7) will travel to Norristown for a non-league match Monday.

COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3, WILLIAM TENNENT 1
The Indians earned a hard-fought win in four sets.
Sarah McCafferty’s 28 assists and seven aces led the Indians. Her service game – she had 30 serves – led the Indians. The Indians had a balanced attack behind McCafferty as Kaitlyn Liedl had 11 kills while Sophie Lentz and Ainsley Jordan chipped in with eight kills apiece.
Council Rock North (5-6, 3-4 SOL) will travel to Souderton Friday for a non-league game, and William Tennent (8-5, 5-4) will travel to Villa Joseph Marie for a non-league match on Tuesday.

SOL Continental

CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 3, QUAKERTOWN 0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-13)
The visiting Bucks – sparked by a balanced attack - notched a sweep of the Panthers.
Five players combined their efforts to control play at the net, including Rachel Hu (9 kills, 2 aces, 1 block, 12 digs), Hollis Walton (8 kills, 2 aces, 2 blocks), Presley Adams (8 kills, 1 block), Sarah Miller (6 kills, 1 block) and Lily Rasnake (6 kills, 2 digs). Setter Elisa Kremser handed out 30 assists and also had four kills, three aces, one block and six digs. Amber Woodring added two aces and seven digs.
For the Panthers setter Anna Skogen had eight assists and two kills while Erica Gildea led the defense with 13 digs. Also contributing were Ellie White (1 kill, 2 aces, 1 block), Grace White (2 kills, 2 blocks), Mia Handschumacher (1 block), Carissa Ievers (3 aces, 6 digs), Cece Bates (4 kills, 2 digs), Katelyn Martinez (7 digs), Kayla Sicher (4 kills, 3 aces, 1 block), Colleen Gallagher (5 digs) and Krysalyn Juchno (1 dig).
Central Bucks West (10-3, 6-2 SOL) will travel to Central Bucks South on Tuesday, and Quakertown (2-12, 1-8) will travel to William Tennent for a non-league match Saturday (1 pm).

PENNRIDGE 3, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 0  (25-19, 25-20, 25-19)
The Lady Rams pulled out the home victory against Central Bucks South in a tightly contested straight sets victory. The Rams were able to overcome a heroic effort by CB South outside hitter Breckyn Loynd to pull away at the end of each set.  
For the Rams, the night came down to a big-time performance by setter Delaney Schwind.
“With the team’s serve receive struggles, the sophomore setter was able to keep the offensive performance in system enough to hold off the Titans’ fierce fight,” Pennridge coach Brandon Johnson said. “Offensively, the Rams also received a huge performance from junior outside hitter Darby Nichols, who was able to push the Rams ahead at the end of all three sets of the match with clutch attacking. Senior libero Sami Lipp made big contributions on the defensive side of the ball to help the Rams to victory.
Pennridge (7-6, 6-2 SOL) will travel to Lansdale Catholic on Monday for a big out of conference match-up.

CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, NORTH PENN 1 (25-20, 19-25, 25-22, 25-21)
Maddy Ware had another big night, leading the Patriots to their eighth conference win with 12 kills, 14 digs, five blocks, three aces and two assists.
Setter Kate Monaghan also stuffed a stat sheet with
19 digs, three blocks, 17 assists, two aces and five kills. Kate Malobisky shared the team lead with 19 digs to go along with two aces, six kills and two assists. Samantha Sharp was a force at the net with eight blocks, three kills and one ace. Arya Haridas added 15 digs and two aces while Mia Mettille had 14 assists and one dig. Aimee Wolf contributed eight kills, three blocks and one dig. Steph Bahner chipped in with seven digs and three kills, and Megan Colbert had one ace.

Central Bucks East (8-5 8-1 SOL) will travel to Pennridge on Tuesday, and North Penn (7-7, 4-5) will be on the road at Upper Dublin on Monday.

SOL American

ABINGTON 3, WISSAHICKON 1
Kenya Lucas had another big match, slamming home 16 kills to lead the Ghosts in their win over the Trojans. Sasha Moody (8 kills) and Shayla Moody (6 kills) also contributed to the attack. Sophomore setter Mary Carter had 31 assists. Liz Tanis had four blocks, and Ashley Rice contributed four aces.
Abington (13-2, 7-2 SOL) will host New Hope-Solebury on Tuesday, and Wissahickon ( 5-8, 2-7) will travel to Quakertown on Monday.

Wednesday, August 5
SOUDERTON 3, DOCK MENNONITE 0 (25-17, 25-15, 25-19)

The Indians rolled to a sweep of the Pioneers in non-league action Wednesday.
Teya McConaha (8 kills, 3 aces, 2 digs), Kay Guessford (7 kills, 1 ace, 4 digs) and Grace McDonnough (5 kills) led a balanced attack. Setter Grace Boyd had 19 assists and one dig. Alexa Mazzeo contributed two kills, one ace and four digs.
Souderton (8-5, 4-4 SOL) will host Council Rock North in a non-league match Friday.

Tuesday, August 4
LANSDALE CATHOLIC 3, QUAKERTOWN 1 (23-25, 25-10, 25-19, 25-9)

The Panthers won the first set only to see the Crusaders win the next three.
Kayla Sicher had a big match, finishing with 12 kills, two aces, one block and five digs. Cece Bates added seven kills and five digs. Setter Anna Skogen had 18 assists, one kill, one ace, two blocks and five digs. Erica Gildea (1 ace) and Carissa Ievers (2 aces) led the defense with 14 digs each. Also contributing were Mia Handschumacher (2 kills, 1 dig), Grace White (1 kill, 2 blocks, 2 digs), Kiele Magalengo (1 kill, 1 block), Ellie White (2 aces, 2 blocks), Katelyn Martinez (2 digs), Cora Moll (1 dig) and Krysalyn Juchno (1 dig)
