A pair of SOL teams compete in Saturday’s First Kill Tournament at Freedom High School.

VIKINGS EXCEL IN FIRST KILL TOURNAMENT
Upper Merion rolled to a 9-3 record in Saturday’s First Kill Tournament. The Vikings were led by the hitting of Melanie Ingram and Casey Griffith and the setting of Natalie O’Neil. Upper Merion swept Neshaminy, Haverford, Villa Maria Academy and Notre Dame of Easton and split two sets with Emmaus and lost two close sets to Pope John Paul. Upper Merion opens defense of its SOL American Conference title when the Vikings host Hatboro-Horsham on Tuesday night.

FALCONS COMPETE IN FIRST KILL TOURNAMENT
Pennsbury compiled a 6-6 record at Saturday’s First Kill Tournament at Freedom High School. The Falcons split with Unionville (25-21, 21-25), fell to both Downingtown East (22-25, 23-25) and Southern Lehigh (20-25, 22-25) but rallied to defeat Methacton (25-19, 25-22). The Falcons split with Merion Mercy (25-22, 15-25) and then defeated Archbishop Ryan (25-18, 25-18).
Cara Reilly led the Falcons’ attack with 31 kills. Paige Misawic had 74 assists while Sarah Sweetland had 11 blocks. Kate Webb led the defense with 38 digs, and Taylor McCartney had eight aces.
