Non-league

PENNSBURY 3, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 1 (25-22, 15-25, 25-17, 25-23)

The Falcons earned a hard-fought win over the visiting Patriots.

For the Falcons, Natalie Johnson had five kills and three blocks, and Kim Sendlock added six kills. Grace Sobey led the defense with 20 digs and four aces.

For the Patriots, junior setter Katie Monaghan dished out 37 assists to go along with 14 digs, three kills and two aces. Senior libero Chloe Metille had 16 digs, five assists and one ace. Junior middles Aimee Wolf (nine kills, five blocks, one dig) and Madeline Ware (10 kills, six blocks, one dig, one ace) had big nights. Junior outsides Kate Malobisky (eight kills, six digs, one assist, one ace) and Megan Colbert (seven digs, four kills, one block) also made important contributions at the net. Senior right side hitters Kat Montabana (four kills, 10 digs) and Emily Curran (one kill, one block) also made their presence felt.

 

WILLIAM TENNENT 3, WISSAHICKON 2 (25-27, 25-21, 26-28, 25-20, 15-7)

The Panthers won a spirited five-set match over the Trojans.

“Our girls are really resilient and kept fighting back after losing a couple of heartbreakers,” Tennent coach Brian Bassler said. “Wissahickon is well coached, and I think they will keep getting better.

“Our girls definitely played better as the match went on, and we had contributions up and down the lineup. We even overcame a couple of injuries, and the girls did great with handling some different rotations on the fly.”

William Tennent will host a doubleheader Saturday with games at 9:30 a.m. and noon.

 

 

COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-15)

The Indians continued their strong start to the season, earning a sweep of the Titans.

Senior captain Ashleigh Adams, an outside hitter, once again dominated play at the net, finishing with 31 kills to go along with 19 digs and five aces. Junior outside Ainsley Jordan had six kills and 10 digs while senior setter and captain Kate Logan had 34 assists to go along with 13 digs and one kill. Bella Slough, a junior middle hitter, had one kill, one block and one assist. Junior opposite Sophia Lentz contributed one kill, two digs, two aces and two blocks. Sophomore libero Emma McNulty added five digs, four assists and one ace, and senior outside hitter Julia Murphy had two kills and seven digs.

 

 

ABINGTON 3 PENNRIDGE 1 (25-13, 19-25, 25-16, 25-21)

The Ghosts and Rams split the first two sets, but the Ghosts reeled off wins in the next two to earn the win.

Lila Stonehouse (18 kills) and Kenya Lucan (12 kills) both had big nights at the net. Izzy Reilly handed out 29 assists.

With the loss, the Rams dropped to 0-2 on the young season.

“The Rams serving brought them to live in set two, but they were unable to sustain the momentum into set three,” Pennridge coach Brandon Johnson said. “The Rams and Ghosts battled back and fourth in set four, but the Ghosts pulled away decisively from 20-20 to win the set 25-21.

“The Lady Rams were led in the attack by senior Allison Saalfrank and paced defensively by Samantha Lipp.”

Pennridge looks to rebound next week with two big conference matchups against Souderton and North Penn.

 

 

SOUDERTON 3, GREAT VALLEY 0 (25-21, 25-17, 25-23)

The Indians rolled to a sweep of the visiting Patriots in a non-league contest Friday.

Alexa Mazzeo led the Indians defensively with 15 digs to go along with three assists and one kill. Alyssa Reiner had a big night at the net, finishing with 15 kills to go along with one ace, two digs and one block. Setter Nikki Hamilton dished out 22 assists to go along with two aces and three digs. Izzy Feliciani added four aces and three digs.

 

 

UPPER DUBLIN 3, NESHAMINY 1

The Flying Cardinals earned a win in their first match of the season after seeing the start of their season delayed due to damages by Hurricane Ida.

“After having to postpone our first two matches, it felt great to get onto the court,” UD coach Paul Choi said. “It was a great team win.”

Casey Broderick (10 kills, three digs, one block), Erica Stelling (eight kills, three blocks), Charlotte Qi (seven kills, five aces, 11 digs) and Sarah Randall (four kills, two aces, 11 digs) led a balanced Cardinal attack at the net. Sammy Silver’s 19 digs led the defense. She also had an ace. Lauren Howie added 12 digs and four aces, and Katelyn Gamburg had eight digs. Allison Loose contributed five aces.
