SOL Girls' Volleyball Wrap (9-13-18)

Upper Dublin defeated Quakertown in SOL girls’ volleyball action Thursday.

UPPER DUBLIN 3, QUAKERTOWN 0 (25-18, 25-23, 25-20)
The Flying Cardinals received contributions up and down their lineup in Thursday’s sweep of the Panthers. Setter Sarah Randall handed out 25 assists to go along with five digs, one ace and one kill. Kara Grebe led a balanced attack with eight kills and three digs, and Shannon Yoast had six kills, four digs and two aces. Sydney Jones had four kills, four digs and led the Cardinals’ service game with five aces. Anna Faust paced the defense with 12 digs to go along with one kill, and Charlotte Qi had seven digs, two kills and one block. Also contributing were Emily Senior (two kills, four digs), Maggie Faust (one kill, two digs), Nicole Wealand (two digs) and Aileen Kohlbrenner (two digs).

For the Panthers, senior Alex Whalen led the attack with nine kills and also delivered three aces. She was one of three players to contribute 11 digs. Senior Jenny Starzecky contributed 11 digs, five kills and one block, and sophomore Grace Wilson added 11 digs and one kill. Senior setter Mackenzie Mahler had 16 assists, one ace and three digs. Sophomore Kara Gallagher added four aces and two kills.

The Owls dropped a non-league match to ANC. Sydney Bawuah led the Owls with nine kills and two aces.

"She had an excellent match," coach Tim Linehan said.
Emma LoStracco (18 assists, three aces), Maddie Buechner (four kills, four aces) and Zariah Prescott (four kills, four aces) also played well for Bensalem.
