ABINGTON 3, UPPER DUBLIN 1 (25-22, 23-25, 25-8, 25-20)

The Ghosts won a spirited match against the Flying Cardinals in four sets.

“It was another fun battle,” Abington coach Dan Marsh said. “It doesn’t matter with these two teams – it’s always the same, a great battle with lots of long rallies and really fun volleyball.”

The Ghosts finished with 37 kills – Kenya Lucas led the way with 17 and Lila Stonehouse had 10. They also had 35 totals assists with Izzy Reilly dishing out 32 to go along with five aces. Abington is 2-1 (1-1 SOL) while Upper Dublin is 1-2 (0-2).

 

Non-league

HATBORO-HORSHAM 3, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 2 (22-25, 22-25, 25-16, 25-18, 15-11)
The Hatters dropped two sets early to a young but extremely controlled and defensive-oriented West squad. The Bucks, according to HH coach Jon Young, were able to take advantage of a lot of great looks with HH starting slowly. The Hatters fought back to win the match in five as they started to get in rhythm.

Running the offense was senior setter Grace Howard with 41 assists, four digs, and two aces. The Hatters had another solid night at the net, hitting .307 as a team and led by junior middle hitter Jade Lauzier's nine kills on 18 attacks, senior Nastya Tsetsko's 13 kills on 25, and junior outside Kayla Jones with 16 kills on 32 attempts. The Hatters had a great night on the serving line with 23 aces in five sets lead by Kayla Jones (7), Jade Lauzier (6) and Nastya Tsetsko (5). Senior Maci Lumpkin anchored the defense with 17 digs on the night.

For the Bucks, Alexis Barklage (11 kills, three blocks, one ace), Rachel Hu (eight kills, one ace, 10 digs) and Mackenzie Lund (five kills, three aces, two blocks) led the way at the net. Setter Erin Ferello had 29 assists, 11 digs, four aces and one kill, and Caroline Taylor’s 14 digs led the defense. She also had three aces.

The Hatters (2-0, 1-0 SOL) take on Wissahickon on Friday. Central Bucks West is 1-2 overall (1-1 SOL).

 

 

COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 1 (25-23, 25-10, 23-25, 25-14)

The Indians upped their record to a perfect 5-0 with a hard-fought win over the visiting Patriots.

Senior captain and outside hitter Ashleigh Adams paced the Indians with another huge game, contributing 24 kills, 28 digs, one ace and three blocks. Junior outside hitter Ainsley Jordan added 25 digs, three kills, three aces and three blocks. Senior captain Kate Logan, the Indians’ setter, had 20 assists, two digs, four aces and one kill. Junior middle hitter Bella Slough had a pair of blocks, and junior opposite Sophia Lentz contributed six kills, six digs, one ace and three blocks. Sophomore libero Emma McNulty added 17 digs and one kill, and senior outside Julia Murphy chipped in five digs and one ace. Senior defensive specialist Arushi Singh had four digs.

For the Patriots junior setter Katie Monaghan had 27 assists and eight digs, and senior libero Chloe Metille contributed 15 digs, two aces and one assist. Junior outsides Megan Colbert (seven digs, four kills) and Kate Malobisky (nine kills, one block, nine digs) combined for 13 kills. Junior middles Aimee Wolfe (three blocks, one dig, four kills) and Maddy Ware (six kills, two blocks, one ace) also contributed at the net. Senior serving specialist Lexi Knorr had two aces and one dig, and Taryn Zakrzewski added two digs. Senior right side Kat Montabana had one kill and one ace.

Council Rock North is 3-0 in SOL play while Central Bucks East is 2-2 overall and 2-0 in league play.  

 

CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 3, PENNSBURY 1 (25-20, 25-19, 25-27, 25-22)

The Titans rebounded from a disappointing loss to North Penn 24 hours earlier to defeat the visiting Falcons.

Senior setter Shannon Rector had a busy night, handing out 50 assists and also delivering six service aces. Senior libero Rian Grant led the defense with 19 digs and also had one kill and two assists. Senior outside hitter Millie Grove was once again a force at the net, delivering 29 kills, 11 digs and three aces. Junior outside hitter Breckyn Lyond contributed 10 kills, 16 digs and four aces.

Also contributing for the Titans were junior middle hitter Katie Canzanese (three aces, five digs), senior defensive specialist Morgan Schaefer (nine digs) and senior opposite hitter Olivia Dallamer (three kills).

CB South upped its record to 3-3 (2-1 SOL) while Pennsbury is 3-1 overall.

 

LANSDALE CATHOLIC 3, QUAKERTOWN 0 (25-12, 25-23, 25-23)
