SOL Girls' Volleyball Wrap (9-2-14)

UPPER MERION 3, STRATH HAVEN 0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-21)
Strath Haven gave the Vikings a battle in Tuesday’s non-league match, but in the end, the Vikings had just too many weapons. Eryn Brady and Emily Shannon each had eight kills. Niki Carpenter added five kills and two blocks. Ashley Shannon led the defense with 12 digs, and Carlye Odorisio had five kills and two aces to go along with her 21 assists.
The Vikings are 1-0 and will travel to Hatboro-Horsham on Thursday night.

PENNRIDGE 3, HARRY S TRUMAN 0 (25-4, 25-11, 27-25)
Krista Hiller had five kills to lead the Lady Rams. Meghan Keefe had five aces to spark a strong serving game. Kelly Bergen’s 10 digs led the defense, and Lauren Drugotch had four blocks for the Lady Rams.

CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 3, ABINGTON 0 (26-24, 26-24, 25-5)
The Bucks eked out wins in the opening two sets and then rolled to a win in the third set. Sophia Videva led the Bucks with 14 kills and one ace. Katie Hudson had five kills and three aces, and Kayla King had three kills, four aces, 25 assists and three digs. Kelly McKinstry (two kills, three aces, eight digs), Julia Schweibenz (two kills, one ace, seven digs) and Ashley Juliano (two kills, two aces) also contributed.
For the Ghosts, Carley Cooper had 16 assists and two digs while Leah Simmons led the Ghosts at the net with eight kills and four digs. Claire Gassman had three kills and five digs. Jamie Kidd added 10 digs, and Kate Ryan had three kills and two blocsk.

WILLIAM TENNENT 3, SOUDERTON 1 (25-22, 23-25, 25-19, 25-23)
Jaime Bonner had a monster night at the net, contributing 18 kills to go along with four aces. Maddie Richard anchored a strong defense with 16 digs, and Alex Koppany dished out 27 assists.
"Our team has very little varsity experience, and they really battled through this one," coach Brian Bassler said. "The defense played extremely well with Cadey Weir, Jamie George and Catherine Zhushma all coming up big."
Savannah Bostwick had a huge game for the Indians’ defense, finishing with 24 digs to go along with three aces. Cori Watson was credited with 18 assists. Megan Freed led the Indians’ attack with nine kills to go along with eight digs. Melissa Gould had five kills, and Talia Watson had four aces for the Indians (1-1).

METHACTON 3, HATBORO-HORSHAM 0 (25-19, 25-22, 27-25)
Senior Sam Jones led the Hatters’ offense with 12 kills. Junior Jaimee Stockzo had six kills, and senior Alexa Kennedy had five kills. On defense, Cassidy Quattro had four blocks and senior Dymond Black contributed three. Sophomore Allison Laucella led the way with 17 digs, Jones had 13 and senior Candyce Riley had eight digs and also contributed 18 assists. Junior Christine Ruffin had 10 assists.

UPPER DUBLIN 3, RADNOR 0 (25-6, 25-15, 25-14)
The Flying Cardinals rolled to a sweep of their hosts in Tuesday's non-league game. Taylor Stek led the way with five aces, seven kills and four digs, and Melanie Phifer had five kills. Setter Bryn Stek had 18 assists and five digs, and Gabbi Johnson had three aces and nine digs. Veronica Lu had four aces and four digs.

CHRISTOPHER DOCK 3, WISSAHICKON 0 (25-18, 25-11, 25-13)
