SOL Girls' Volleyball Wrap (9-23-13)

WILLIAM TENNENT 3, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 0 (25-13, 25-9, 25-19)
Chelsea Gallagher led the Panthers with nine kills and seven digs, and teammate Jaime Bonner contributed seven kills. CC Weir had five aces and 11 digs while Maddie Richard added three aces. Alex Koppany dished out 26 assists.
“The girls played really well all around,” coach Brian Bassler said. “We got excellent hustle plays from Ashley Weidman, Amber Wood and Casey McMahon.
“The girls played smart and together.”
The win was the sixth in a row for the Panthers, who improved to 7-3 overall (3-2 SOL).

CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 3, NORTH PENN 0 (25-17, 25-13, 25-18)
In their sweep of the Maidens, the Bucks were led by Alicia West (six kills, six aces), Candace Ruppert (seven kills, one ace, one block), Kelly McKinstry (four aces, two kills, 20 assists, 11 digs) and Kailey Prall (two aces, 13 digs).

CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 3, SOUDERTON 0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-16)
Larissa Keer sparked a strong service game for the Titans, serving for 29 points, which included six aces. Gabby Tanner and Taylor Danilowicz each had eight kills. Caitlyn McCrory had 10 digs, and Megan Dunn had three kills.
“It was a nice win tonight,” coach Ulana Keer said. “The team played relaxed and focused on volleyball. Jackie Haffey had some nice blocks and kills. Sara Poli and Erin Cleary distributed the ball well tonight.”
For the Indians, Alycia Beebe had five kills and seven digs while Terry Wilcox had nine kills and five digs. Savannah Bostwick had 18 digs and three aces. Cori Watson had 21 assists, six digs and three aces. Melissa Gould had four kills and one block, and Stef Kluka had three kills.

CENTRAL BUCKS 3, PENNRIDGE 2 (25-11, 17-25, 27-25, 24-26, 15-1)
The Patriots and Rams battled through a grueling five-set match.
Bridgette Terrel (13 kills, five aces, seven digs) and Hannah Lunak (11 kills, four digs) had big games at the net for the Patriots. Kelly Guillen (eight kills), Rachel Clow (six kills, six ace, six digs), Lindsay McIntosh (six kills) and Lauren Helveston (four kills, five aces, five digs) also made important contributions. Erin Lane led the defense with 13 digs to go along with four aces.

ABINGTON 3, UPPER DUBLIN 1 (15-25, 25-17, 25-23, 27-25)
Carley Cooper (eight digs, seven kills) and Claire Gassman (eight kills, five blocks, three digs) had big games at the net for the Ghosts. Sophomore middle hitter Leah Simmons had two kills, three blocks and three aces. Junior Lizzie Lloyd added two blocks, two kills, two assists and five digs. Sophomore setter Emma Garg had 15 assists, four digs and nine aces, and sophomore Jamie Kidd chipped in with nine digs and four aces.
The Flying Cardinals were led by the performances of juniors Melanie Phifer (two digs, nine aces, six kills, one block) and Taylor Stek (three digs, five kills, two aces) as well as freshman Jenny McAneney (two aces, three kills, one dig).

HATBORO-HORSHAM 3, PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 0 (25-12, 25-16, 25-16)
Hatter junior Dymond Black had four kills and four blocks. Sam Jones also added three aces and served 13 points in all.  Sophomore Jaimee Stockzo added two aces and served 11 points, and Freshman Allison Laucella served ten.  Junior Candyce Riley also added two aces.  Riley and Jones led the serve reception and defense for the team.  Seniors Katie McKay and Hannah Steiger dished out 12 and six assists respectively.
For the Colonials, Emily Houck had five kills and eight digs while Tori Biggins had three aces and nine assists. Cara Sweeney added four kills and two digs, and Rachel Isackman had three kills, one ace and eight digs. Keelin McEleney led the defense with 15 digs.

COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 3, NESHAMINY 0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-18)
The Indians celebrated their Dig Pink match by sweeping the visiting Redskins.
“North had some good hitters and wicked servers,” Neshaminy coach Kate Livingstone said. “We played better defense than we have yet this season.
“We are so young as a team, so each time we get out there, you can see improvement.”
For the ‘Skins, Danielle Catapano had 10 assists, six digs and an ace while Mackenzie Maher had five kills. Molly MacDonald added 12 digs and an ace, and Gabby Mannino added eight digs and two aces. Miranda Foster had two kills and a block.
“It was a great event,” Livingstone said of the Dig Pink night. “Many of our girls have had friends and relatives who have been affected by breast cancer, so it was a special experience to see so many people come out and support a great cause.”
Saturday, Sept. 21
WILLIAM TENNENT 3, PENNCREST 2 (25-9, 25-19, 23-25, 18-25, 15-12)

The Panthers jumped out to a 2-0 lead only to watch the Lions win the next two. Tennent regrouped to win the fifth set, rallying from a 9-3 deficit to capture their first victory in a five-set match this season.
“I can’t say enough about how proud I am of this team and how they hung in there together,” coach Brian Bassler said.
Amber Wood had 11 blocks while Ashley Weidman had nine. Wood also had six kills. Chelsea Gallagher had a team high 11 kills, and Jaime Bonner added eight. Alex Koppany dished out 32 assists and also had four aces. Bassler credited CC Weir and Casey McMahon for outstanding performances in the back row. Weir had 17 digs and McMahon had 14.

WILLIAM TENNENT 3, KENNETT 0 (25-14, 25-8, 25-15)
The Panthers used a strong service game in their sweep of Kennett, combining for 20 aces as a team. Chelsea Gallagher led the way with seven aces while Weir had five and Maddie Richard, four aces. Jaime Bonner had seven kills, and teammates Amber Wood and Ashley Weidman both had four kills.

QUAKERTOWN 3, CONWELL EGAN 0 (25-16, 25-11, 25-3)

Friday, Sept. 20
CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 3, UPPER DUBLIN 1 (20-25, 25-19, 26-24, 25-16)
The Flying Cardinals earned a win in game one only to watch the Bucks win the next three in Friday’s non-league contest. Alicia West led the Bucks with 14 kills and six digs. Sophia Videva had 10 kills. Kelly McKinstry contributed three aces, two kills, 33 assists and 14 digs while Kailey Prall had three aces and 20 digs. Ashley Juliano added four kills and three aces.
