SOL Girls' Volleyball Wrap (9-27-21)

Non-league

WILLIAM TENNENT 3, QUAKERTOWN 0 (25-16, 25-15, 25-21)

Visiting Tennent earned a sweep in a battle of SOL Panthers.

“Our girls played extremely in sync tonight, and everyone had a hand in the win,” Tennent coach Brian Bassler said. “It was a fun, spirited match against a Quakertown team with a lot of seniors and in front of a big crowd.”

Izzy Goebel (15 assists) and Julia Richard (11 assists, three aces) shared setting duties. The back row was led by Addy Criss (14 digs) and Maggie McGlynn (eight digs, four aces). Up front, Meredith Johnston and Charlotte Reeves each had eight kills while Georgie Thorpe pitched in with six.

William Tennent improved to 7-4 overall, 3-2 SOL, while Quakertown is 1-8 (0-5).

 

CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 3, HARRY S TRUMAN 0 (25-13, 25-9, 25-13)

Sparked by a standout service game, the Bucks rolled to a sweep of the visiting Tigers.

Alexis Barklage’s nine kills led the Bucks at the net while Rachel Hu added five kills and five aces and Annika Huber had five kills and three aces. Setter Alexa Lee handed out 14 assists and also had five aces and one kill. Caroline Taylor added five aces and one kill.

Central Bucks West upped its overall record to 3-6 overall (1-2 SOL) while the Tigers fell to 1-9 (0-6).

 

SOUDERTON 3, WISSAHICKON 0 (25-10, 25-3, 25-18)

The Indians earned a convincing sweep over the Trojans in a non-league match.

Alyssa Reiner had a big night for the visitors, finishing with seven aces, 11 kills and six digs. Alli Sauerwald had five aces, one dig and six kills, Kay Guessford contributed five kills while Alexa Mazzeo had nine digs and four assists. Setter Nikki Hamilton directed the offense, handing out 20 assists to go along with one ace and one dig.

Souderton evened its overall record at 4-4 (1-3 SOL) while the Trojans are 2-9 overall (1-4 SOL).

 

COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 3, ARCHBISHOP WOOD 2

The Golden Hawks earned a win in a spirited five-set non-league match against the visiting Vikings.

Nala Kauer (12 kills, three digs, four aces), Avery Vaughan (11 kills, one ace, one block) and Edan Kauer (eight kills, 24 digs, two aces) controlled play at the net. Edan Kauer also led the Golden Hawks defensively. Gracie DeSaro also made her presence felt with five blocks and three kills while Shani Sun added five kills and four digs. Gina Caraccio (16 assists, four kills, two blocks) and Lili Lauch (29 assists, eight digs, one ace) split time setting. Lindsey Korn (11 digs, five aces) and Cadence Palmer (12 digs) also made important contributions defensively.

Council Rock South is 7-1 overall (4-1 SOL).

 

DOWNINGTOWN WEST 3, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 0 (25-18, 26-24, 25-16)

The visiting Patriots battled gamely but came up short in Monday’s non-league match.

Junior setter Katie Monaghan handed out 17 assists and also had three digs and one ace. Senior libero Chloe Metille had 10 digs and three assists. Junior outside Kate Maobisky contributed five digs and six kills while junior outside Samanth Sharp had one block, two digs and two kills. Freshman outside Mia Metille added one kill, one ace and one assist. Senior opposite Kate Montabana led the Patriots’ attack with eight kills as well as four digs, one ace and one block. Junior middles Aimee Wolf (three blocks, one kill) and Maddy Ware (two aces, two kills, three blocks) also contributed.

Central Bucks East is 6-3 overall but remains perfect in SOL play with a 5-0 record.

 

PENNRIDGE 3, UPPER DUBLIN 1

 

Saturday, Sept 25

ABINGTON 3, CINNAMINSON 0 (25-6, 25-9, 25-13)

Kenya Lucas had 11 kills while Lila Stonehouse added seven to lead the Ghosts at the net in their sweep of Cinnaminson in a non-league contest Saturday. Izzy Reilly dished out 24 assists for the winners.

Abington improved to 5-3 overall (3-1 SOL).
