SOL Girls' Volleyball Wrap (9-29-17)

A pair of SOL girls’ volleyball teams played non-league matches Friday. Check the recaps.

COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 3, ARCHBISHOP WOOD 1 (25-22, 25-17, 24-26, 25-21)
The Golden Hawks notched an impressive non-league win. Leading the way for the Hawks were Celina Varian (11 kills, two aces, nine digs), Lauren Koestler (four kills, one block) and Hannah Devlin (three aces, 16 assists, four digs, three blocks).
“Wood is always tough, and today was no exception,” coach John Wright said. “They are well coached and play tenacious defense. I was very proud of my girls today. They got the job done.
“Celina Varian put the team on her back for a little bit and carried us through a tough patch.”

GREAT VALLEY 3, SOUDERTON 0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-21)
The Patriots earned a sweep of the visiting Indians.
Setter Talia Watson handed out 20 assists. Maria Iervolino had eight kills and five digs, Tori Reiner had five kills and Haley Novak added four kills and 10 digs. Bella Mazzeo had 10 digs, and Amelia Hanson contributed seven digs and two aces.
