SOL Girls' Volleyball Wrap (9-30-16)

Check out the results for SOL girls’ volleyball teams in action Friday night.

CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 3, WILLIAM TENNENT 2 (21-25, 25-14, 25-23, 23-25, 15-7)
The Titans gutted out another five-set win on Friday, this time edging the Panthers and receiving a clutch performance from junior middle hitter Julia Dennis, who finished with 18 kills and five blocks."Tonight was an absolute battle for us,” coach Kurt Godfrey said. “Julia Dennis turned in her best performance of her career. She was a force at the net and I don't know if Tennant had an answer for her all night.
“She played incredibly well, and I can’t even begin to tell you how sensational she was tonight.”
Megan Manderson turned in a routinely excellent performance with 19 kills and 15 digs. Morgan McCrory had a huge night defensively with 40 digs. Alyssa Dallmer added eight kills. Setters Erica Werner (41 assists) and Kelly Danyluk (four aces, four kills, 15 assists) also came up big.
“Yet again we found ourselves in a fifth set,” Godfrey said. “Sometimes I jokingly ask the girls if they enjoy going to the fifth set. Of course, their answer is no, but I'm not positive about that one.
“We practiced situational serving and receiving in practice last night to get ready for Tennant.  While Tennant put up a huge fight, we were able to dig a little deeper and get the win tonight.  Tennant played a great match and, fortunately for us, we were able to minimize our mistakes to get the ‘W’ tonight. We have a packed schedule coming up, so we can celebrate this win over the weekend and then we can get back to work on Monday."
Despite the outcome, coach Brian Bassler had high praise for his squad.
“What an incredible match,” the Panthers’ coach said. “They are a well-coached team and play very hard.
“Our girls battled like they always do. As always, I am proud of them. To play this many five-set matches is ridiculous, and it is really exciting volleyball to watch. The match felt like it took three hours.”
