SOL Girls' Volleyball Wrap (9-9-16)

Check out the results for SOL girls’ volleyball teams in action Friday.

WILLIAM TENNENT 3, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 2 (25-22, 22-25, 25-19, 15-25, 15-8)
The Panthers gutted out a five-set win over the Titans to pick up their first win of the young season.
“We played exceptionally hard and stuck together through a very difficult match,” coach Brian Bassler said. “This league is going to be like this all year.
“It’s really fun, and the matches are very exciting. Our girls dug deep to pull out the fifth set, and for us, I think this is a nice confidence booster. I believe when we serve tough and play with confidence we can hang with mostly anyone in the league.”
Strong performances were turned in by Laura Cochrane (14 kills, five blocks), Lindsey Snock (eight kills, four blocks) and Steph Woolston (27 digs, five aces).
For the Titans, Megan Manderson led the way with 17 kills and eight digs. Morgan McCrory had a busy night with 43 digs and one kill. Alyssa Dallmer had 12 kills while setters Erica Werner (21 assists) and Kelly Danyluk (19 assists) combined for 40 helpers. Lindsay VanFossen added two kills.
"We weren't as sharp as we would have liked to have been tonight,” coach Kurt Godfrey said. “We played a sloppy game of defense and got away from our game plan a lot tonight. Going into the fourth set tonight I gave the girls a pretty big pep talk and it seemed to work.
“We controlled the tempo of game four and we thought we could carry it over into game five.  Unfortunately, that didn't happen and Tennent played their hearts out tonight.  It's a shame we weren't able to get the "W" tonight and lost another heartbreaker but we know we can play a lot better.  We will play better."

SOUDERTON 3, NORTH PENN 0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-23)
Setter Lauren Hamilton handed out 26 assists and also had three aces in the Indians’ sweep of the Knights. Monica Miller (five kills, 15 digs), Haley Novak (six kills, four aces, 14 digs) and Miranda Baronett (six kills, 14 digs) led the Indians. Talia Watson (12 digs, two aces), Tori Reiner (five kills, five blocks), Hannah Fairweather (five kills, two blocks), Maria Iervolino (two kills) and Bella Mazzeo (two aces) also made important contributions.
Souderton improves to 2-0 on the young season.

PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 3, WISSAHICKON 0 (25-6, 25-8, 25-18)
The Colonials received 20 assists from setter Bridget McTamney. Taylor O’Brien (five kills) and Lauren Coscia (seven kills, seven aces) led the Colonials’ offense while Olivia Carbo recorded 16 digs.

COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 3, HARRY S TRUMAN 0
