CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 3, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 2 (22-25, 19-25, 25-22, 25-22, 15-11)

The Titans found themselves staring at a 2-0 deficit but staged a gutsy comeback, winning the next three sets to earn the hard fought win.

“Tonight was a big win for us,” South coach Kurt Godfrey said. “Playing a sister school is always so tough because all the girls know each other so well.  They play club together and hang out with each other. West is a really good team and they never give up.  They made us work for every point tonight.”

Senior outside hitter Millie Grove was all but unstoppable at the net, finishing with 27 kills. She also had 24 digs and two blocks in a monster effort.

“Millie is a tremendous athlete, and she really came through for us when we needed a big play,” Godfrey said.

Senior setter Shannon Rector had bit night with 42 assists, 12 digs, nine aces and three kills. Senior libero Rian Grant led the defense with 30 digs while senior defensive specialist Morgan Schaefer had 18 digs.

“I think we played defense really well tonight and I couldn't be prouder of Rian and Morgan back there.,” Godfrey said. “They are always willing to hit the floor to get a ball.”

Also contributing were junior outside hitter Breckyn Loynd (eight kills, 20 digs, three aces), senior opposite Olivia Dallmer (five kills, three digs), senior middle Erin Mangan (five kills, one block), and junior middle Katie Canzanese (two aces, two kills, three digs).

"It's tough to be down 0-2 and come back, but after the second set, we just talked about handling our side of the net and making sure everyone is doing their jobs,” Godfrey said. “It helps to have Erin in the huddle to pump everyone up.  She had a big block tonight and a couple really nice kills.   These girls dug deep tonight to battle back and I am truly proud of the fight I saw in each one of them tonight.”

For the Bucks, Alexis Barklage (14 kills, five blocks, two digs) and Rachel Hu (10 kills, three aces, 12 digs) also came up big at the net.
