SOL Runners Excel at Briarwood

Eight SOL girls’ team participated in Saturday’s Briarwood Invitational in Philadelphia.  The Pennsbury girls’ team won the 5K Run Championship Race with 75 points and a total time of 1:38:31.60. North Penn finished fifth with 110 points (1:43:43.20), and Pennridge was sixth with 132 points (1:46:29.40). Pennridge’s Tori Gerlach was the top SOL runner, finishing second with a time of 18:18.30. North Penn’s Meghan McGovern was third with a time of 18:21.10 while Pennsbury’s Sara Sargant finished fifth with a time of 19:00.70. Falcon teammate Ann Herman finished sixth with a time of 19:40.20. North Penn’s Rachel Brown was 12th with a time of 19:45.30, and Pennsbury harriers captured the 13th (Elizabeth Wedekind, 20:02.70), 14th (Erica Gray, 20:04.10) and 15th (Erin O’Connell, 20:09.90) place finishes. Capturing 18th place was Pennsbury’s Stephanie Radzinski with a time of 20:54.70, and Pennridge’s Allie Desko rounded out the top 25, finishing 24th with a time of 21:24.70. The Upper Dublin girls’ squad was the top SOL finisher in the Division 1 Race, capturing second with 91 points and a total time of 1:44:48.40, and Central Bucks East finished in third place with 98 points (1:46:31.90). Neshaminy finished eighth with 227 points (1:50:06.00) with William Tennent in ninth with 239 points (1:50:09.90). Hatboro-Horsham (422 points, 2:00:12.70) finished 15th. Top 25 finishers from the SOL included Upper Dublin’s Sarah Holl (5th place, 19:30.60), William Tennent’s Karlie Brasch (8th place, 20:14.00), Upper Dublin’s Marissa Holl (13th, 20:59.30), Abington’s Dorothy Scholnick (17th, 21:09.00), Central Bucks East’s Louise Huuki (18th, 21:10.40), Abington’s Cassie Smith (19th, 21:13.20) and Upper Dublin’s Gloria Kim (21:14.90). Rounding out the top 25 were four Central Bucks East runners – Sarah Romanus (22nd, 21:20.10), Kara Shen (23rd, 21:20.20), Meaghan Willcoxen (24th, 21:20.60) and Jacqueline Patterson (25th, 21:20.60). Nine SOL boys’ team competed in the Briarwood Invitational. In the boys’ 5K Run Championship Race, North Penn was the top finisher, capturing third with 93 points and a total time of 1:24.26.00. Council Rock North was fifth with 135 points (1:26.01.10), and Central Bucks West was ninth with 224 points (1:29:44.40). The SOL’s top individual finisher was North Penn’s Dan Davis, who finished seventh with a time of 16:22.10. Council Rock North’s Mac Emery finished ninth with a time of 16:31.00 while North Penn’s Jack Macauley was 10th (16:35.10). Rock North’s Ross Wilson was 11th (16:40.90), James Zingarini finished 17th with a time of 16:51.90 and North Penn’s Ryan Grace was 25th (17:05.40) to round out the top 25. The Central Bucks East boys’ team captured first place in the Division 1 Race, finishing with 75 points and a total time of 1:25.53. Abington was fourth with 156 points (1:28:46.80), and Hatboro-Horsham was fifth with 157 points (1:27:27.10). William Tennent was 10th with 227 points (1:30:45.20), Neshaminy was 12th with 293 points (1:32:15.10) and Council Rock South was 15th with 376 points (1:34:33.80). Hatboro-Horsham’s Sam Hibbs finished first to capture the individual title with a time of 16:15.60, and teammate Conner Quinn grabbed second with a time of 16:19.80. Central Bucks East’s Alex Kane finished fourth (16:34.30) with teammate Alec Brand finishing eighth (16:55.70). Abington’s John Hartsough finished 11th with a time of 17:00.00, and CB East’s Alex Hiznay was 12th (17:00.30).
