WILLIAM TENNENT 5, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 3
In a National Conference marquee matchup on Thursday at Revolution Ice Gardens, it was the Panthers maintaining their stronghold on first place in the conference standings with the big win.
The two teams went into the final period deadlocked 3-3 when Alec Dugan scored the go-ahead goal 12:42 into the period. His empty net goal in the closing seconds gave the Panthers their two-goal advantage.
Dugan wasn’t the only hero in a contest that saw Tennent goalie Eric Lineman turn away 28 of 31 shots he faced in a winning effort that effectively negated a 31-21 Rock South advantage in shots.
Early on, it was Max Bergman (Parker Defelice assist) and Matthew Owens (Karl Martin/Joe Marcella assists) scoring consecutive goals to spot the Golden Hawks a 2-0 lead seven minutes into the game. Owens’ goal came on a power play. Tennent cut that lead in half when Chris Kreider scored a power play goal of his own, using assists by Dugan and Bobby Markus.
Rock South went on top 3-1 after Darren Barder scored 10:41 into the second period, using a Bergman assist. Kreider answered with back-to-back goals within a 30-second period to knot the score – the first with assists from Eric George Jr/Blake Bagdon and the second with a Charlie Feeney assist. That set the stage for the dramatic finish.

HARRY S TRUMAN 11, LOWER MORELAND 1
The Tigers received big offensive performances from Kyle Bennett, Ross Koenig and Steven Avellino in Thursday’s rout of the Lions. Bennett led the way with three goals and three assists for a six-point night. Koenig and Avellino both contributed two goals and three assists to finish with five points each.
Truman wasted little time establishing control, scoring five unanswered goals in the first period. Koenig connected for the hat trick in the period while David Patchen and William Findlay both added single goals.
Truman’s lead grew to 7-0 after goals by Avellino and Codey Gordon to open the second period before the Lions got on the scoreboard, thanks to a Simon Pezalla goal. The Tigers answered with back-to-back goals by Findlay and Bennett to close out the period with a 9-1 lead on their way to the lopsided win.
Kyle Huth turned away 11 of 12 shots he faced to earn the win in goal.

PENNSBURY 9, ABINGTON 3
Jack Kelly scored four goals and assisted on another to finish with five points, and teammate Ryan Michael had a four-point night with one goal and three assists to lead the Falcons to the no-doubt-about-it win.
Kelly scored a pair of first period goals while Michael, Nathan Raccagno and Adam Shapiro each added single goals to spot the Falcons an early 5-0 lead. Their advantage grew to 9-0 in a second period that featured a pair of goals by Kelly and single goals by Jake Sieger and John Bezilla.
Abington received single goals from Perry Carpenter, Thomas Panella and Hayden O’Hara in the third period for the 9-3 final.
Trevor Schadler was credited with 25 saves in a winning effort in goal.
As a result of their win and Council Rock South’s loss, the Falcons move into second place in the conference standings behind only William Tennent.
