SOL SHSHL Ice Hockey Wrap (11-29-17 & 11-30-17)

North Penn, Hatboro-Horsham & CB South were winners in SOL SHSHL ice hockey. Check out the recaps.

NORTH PENN 10, PENNSBURY 4
The Knights blew open a close game in the second period, exploding for five unanswered goals and turning a 2-1 lead into a commanding 7-1 advantage. Thomas Boyle had a five-point game for the Knights, scoring two and assisting on three others. Jared Albano had one goal and three assists for four points.
Andrew Galetta turned a Jake Nelson pass into a goal midway through the first period, but the Falcons evened the score when Jake Machlovitz connected on a power play goal with a Griffin Foll assist. The Knights took a lead they would not lose when Boyle scored late in the period with assists from Albano and Tyler Greenstein.
The second period was all North Penn. Ryan Cunningham (Greenstein assist) scored 3:14 into the period, and less than a minute later, Nelson found the net with assists from Nathan Oh and Boyle. Another Galetta goal (Oh assist) made it a 5-1 game, and the Knights put the game completely out of reach with a pair of goals in the final minute of the period – the first by Luke Van Why (Albano assist) and the second by Alex Stevens (Boyle/Will Hughes assists).
The final period saw the two teams exchange goals with Jack Boyle, Moshe McNally and Erik Eisler scoring for the Falcons while Oh, Boyle and Albano each found the net for the Knights.
North Penn held a 48-20 advantage in shots. Knight goalie Chris Maiden turned away 16 shots in a winning effort. Pennsbury’s August Dous had 34 saves.

HATBORO-HORSHAM 6, PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 3
Jacob Mueller and James McCoy combined for four goals and five assists, leading the Hatters to the win on Wednesday night. Mueller led the Hatters with four goals and one assist while McCoy had four assists.
After a scoreless first quarter, PW’s Brandon Pham (Stephen Longo assist) connected on a power play goal, but Mueller came right back with the equalizer. A goal by Sayvion Jones (Ben Heywood assist) gave the Hatters a 2-1 lead heading into the final period.
Mueller used an assist from McCoy to score a goal that put the Hatters on top 3-1 2:20 into the third period, but PW’s Daniel Isackman scored on a power play with assists from Gavin Mulligan an Brandon Pham to make it a one-goal game.
But not for long.
Jordan Gillis (Mueller/McCoy assists) started a three-goal Hatter tear when he scored 5:36 into the period. Mueller followed with back-to-back goals before Colin Franzoni scored on a power play for the 6-3 final.
The Colonials held a 31-29 edge in shots, but Hatter goalie Ryan Bell negated that with his 28-save effort.

CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 3, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 1
The Titans fired 45 shots on goal to just 18 for the Golden Hawks, but Rock South goalie Jeremy Siegel kept the Hawks within striking distance with his 41-save effort.
The Titans led from wire to wire, opening up a 1-0 lead in the closing seconds of the opening period on a goal by Dominic Patrone (Frank Carter/Colin Abbonizio assists). They tacked on two more goals in the second period. Joseph DeLaurentis (Ryan Gingras assist) scored six minutes into the period, and three-and-a-half minutes later, Matt Milanesi scored with assists from James Schuler and Frank Carter.
The Golden Hawks averted a shutout when Matthew Meli scored 5:33 into the final period with assists from Jared Wagenmann and Logan Hurwitz.
